Niger State Reintroduces CRS In Public Schools by zero8zero(op): 5:56pm On Mar 09, 2025
Niger State government has concluded arrangements to re-introduce the Christian Religious Studies (CRS) in public schools across the state.

Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, who disclosed this, explained that the subject, which will be made compulsory for Christians in public schools, would help the children grow in their fear of God.

Governor Bago disclosed this when he received a delegation from the Christian community led by the Deputy Speaker of the state house of assembly, Hon Affiniki Dauda, at the Government House in Minna.

LEADERSHIP reported that the governor’s approval of the re-introduction of the subject follows agitations from various Christian groups regarding the need for religious knowledge as children grow through formative ages.

It was gathered that the subject was stopped in public schools about two decades ago, and various groups have made presentations to the government on the need to reintroduce it.

Consequently, the Governor, who finally granted the request over the years, observed that family values and morality had been replaced with social vice, resulting in moral decadence, thus the need to impart religious knowledge.

He maintained that the option left is to turn to God and His teachings to rebuild family values and instil the fear of God in the younger generations.

He said doing so would require deliberate and concerted efforts by the government, parents, religious leaders, and other relevant stakeholders.

The former Governor also used the forum to announce that the State government will be represented in this year’s Christian pilgrimage to Israel, as peace is progressively returning to the Holy Land.

In his remarks, the CAN Chairman, Niger State Chapter, Most Rev. Dr. Bulus Yohanna, who Rev Fr. Emmanuel Williams, representing, said the leadership style of the Governor has shown his commitment to fairness and inclusivity irrespective of religion or tribe.

And he did this in the month of Ramadan, that's amazing. When you see a peace loving leader, it'd reflect in his dealings. Niger, Kaduna, Adamawa, these Governors are peace loving leaders and lovers of fairness.
Umar Bago has set the stage, will other Northern states follow suit, time will tell.

This is a lovely and lofty move by the Governor.
We read the strides he made in agriculture.

I hope God will help him to curb insecurity from bandits and herdmen.

Why did they remove it initially.

Kudos to the governor for bringing it back.

See Kaduna state, a state that has almost 40 percent Christian population and are doing Muslim Muslim ticket and are proud of it.

Forcing Christianity and Islam, these stupid religions that turn people into zombies and killing machines, on children is evil.
CRS and IRS should please be taught at home.
Re: Niger State Reintroduces CRS In Public Schools by olatade(m): 7:02pm On Mar 09, 2025
It's refreshing to see a Muslim governor promoting understanding and acceptance. In today's world, where technology has bridged gaps and connected people across cultures, religious intolerance has no place. We should be embracing our differences and fostering a culture of mutual respect and coexistence.
Re: Niger State Reintroduces CRS In Public Schools by Omoawoke(m): 7:03pm On Mar 09, 2025
Stupid religion that they no longer force on kids in working countries but only in Africa, colonized and enslaved minds.
How do you teach kids in Africa CRS that focused on life of the Jews when even the Jews themselves don’t teach their kids Bible stories… you praying to god of Israel when the Israelites are developing weapons to fight their battles
