DyshApp:
A lady shares her disappointing experience of selling her property to relocate abroad for a better job.

The lady posted a video on TikTok showing how she quit her banking job in Ghana and sold all her belongings to move abroad for a better job offer.

According to her, after resigning from her banking job, she sold her properties after a travel agent promised her a COS for an MC in the UK.

She emptied her savings and handed the money to the agent who was helping her get a Certificate of Sponsorship (COS) to enable her work in the UK but realized she was deceived by the agent who got her a cleaning job instead.

She made the post on Ghana’s independence day and stated that the leaders should work for the betterment of their country so young people would not make hasty decisions to move abroad only to regret it later.

In her words;

“I quit my banking job in Ghana, sold my properties, handed my entire savings to an agent who promised me a COS for an MC job in the UK, only to realise on arrival it was a 5-year Morning cleaner(MC) job contract. What should I do?”
No big deal.. It's just the starting point.

And mind you even as a cleaner she will be making more.

BTW, in UK, cleaners are respected cos there is dignity in any type of jobs abroad

Maybe you were also a cleaner in the bank.

If you were a hit enlightened you would have known and u derstood exactly what you were going to do.

How can you get a cos and you don't know what you're going to do before you reach there.

That cleaner work fit her...!

Let a more sensible and intelligent person take her place in Africa.

Nothing personal, but I don't rate the intelligence of anyone selling off properties just to move abroad when you don't have the required certification and career assurances to succeed there.

These days, it's worse and dumber than playing BetNaija with borrowed money.
I don't believe this story. Unless she knew and she's pretending

From banker to cleaner.. sold all she had, still emptied all her savings to relocate to a "better place".Ehnn let her embrace her morning cleaning job, 5 years no too far.

I doubt if any foreigner atal will leave the decent life in their country to relocate to Africa to do cleaning job.. Most blacks don't use their brain and it's part of the reason Africa is where ot is today.
In 5 years most of her colleagues would have made something out of life in same Ghana she left, while she would be a struggling immigrant in UK surviving on cleaning jobs. Where is the sense?
I guess you didn't read the part that she was scammed abi? And it will also surprise that her cleaning job abroad may give her a better quality of living than her banking job in Africa. People from places with buoyant economy do migrate to some other places for socioeconomic and other reasons. But Nigerians and bad belle... Nigeria where your security is not even guaranteed despite your riches not to talk the high unemployment rate, poor healthcare and what have you. Even your president de go hospital abroad.

Yeah. While the story might be true or made up, it remains a fact that a lot of Nigerians actually sell off everything and give up great jobs here to go abroad to start hustling all over.

I have met a lot of them tbh.

Some get lucky and break into the corporate world over there or change careers successfully.

However, many are never that lucky. Some get stuck in multiple minimum wage jobs for years till they make it or die in depression.

You obviously do not understand how things work in the western world. I bet that the cleaner job pays 3 times than her banking job.

Nigeria is currently the cheapest labour market after Pakistan. The average salary globally is around $1000 (N1.5m a month) and that is for starting roles. A top banking position is Nigeria earns around N1m a month which is still $650 and that is after years of experience and certification and very few bankers are at the top.

Keep deceiving yourself. The average Nigerian is getting poorer daily due to government policy and we are just laughing and joking. As a cleaner she probably earns more than most managers and if she can tighten her spending she can buy assets back home cheaply.

stop using fx to compare salaries. if you buy only local food, you will see that 1 m a month is very big money

In two to 3 years she will get a better job that her banking mates in Nigeria will never meet up in 15yrs
Don’t also forget she’s giving birth and probably her kids will be citizens too.
