The lady posted a video on TikTok showing how she quit her banking job in Ghana and sold all her belongings to move abroad for a better job offer.

According to her, after resigning from her banking job, she sold her properties after a travel agent promised her a COS for an MC in the UK.

She emptied her savings and handed the money to the agent who was helping her get a Certificate of Sponsorship (COS) to enable her work in the UK but realized she was deceived by the agent who got her a cleaning job instead.

She made the post on Ghana’s independence day and stated that the leaders should work for the betterment of their country so young people would not make hasty decisions to move abroad only to regret it later.

In her words;

“I quit my banking job in Ghana, sold my properties, handed my entire savings to an agent who promised me a COS for an MC job in the UK, only to realise on arrival it was a 5-year Morning cleaner(MC) job contract. What should I do?”

From banker to cleaner.. sold all she had, still emptied all her savings to relocate to a "better place".Ehnn let her embrace her morning cleaning job, 5 years no too far.

I doubt if any foreigner atal will leave the decent life in their country to relocate to Africa to do cleaning job.. Most blacks don't use their brain and it's part of the reason Africa is where ot is today.
In 5 years most of her colleagues would have made something out of life in same Ghana she left, while she would be a struggling immigrant in UK surviving on cleaning jobs. Where is the sense?

Lets talk about how much she earns even as a cleaner.
Don't forget to talk about how much she spends out of what she earn. Convert income and expenditure together. It's called balance sheet.

Baby writer. You should have first explained what COS and MC stand for before using them.
I stopped reading your story at this point.

Cleaning job in UK is far better than an average banking job in Africa, as a cleaner, you are on same pay rate with banker in uk.

People have to understand that , this will only happen in the beginning, when you just arrive. You have to Japa with a plan. While working these menial jobs, you must be actively pursuing your papers to make sure you are legal.

Once you get your papers, you have to start upgrading your skills or certifications. Even if it means going back to school. Once you settle this, you increase your earning potential. As long as you dint arrive abroad with a green card or citizenship, you have to go through this process. It doesn't last forever, so take it one day at a time and make sure you have a solid plan.

Neo-black Problem: Must Blacks Be Ruled by Whites in Order to Prosper?

In short, the neo-black dilemma may be framed as follows: is it better to live under white rule without political dignity but with basic life-sustaining standards for many;

or to live under black rule with illusory political dignity and without basic life- sustaining standards for the majority?

The path forward for Africa lies in cultivating higher and adequate levels of personal and communal agential integrity as well as full personal responsibility and productivity. Not to mention creativity (including epistemic creativity), productive justice (such as merit and freedom), harmony and reconciliation at local and international levels, and a proper domestication of capitalism and other related values and institutions.

Africa must stop wasting her time on dreams of socialism because it is a system of wealth distribution primarily. Whereas, capitalism is a system of wealth creation primarily, and wealth has to be produced before it can be distributed.

She is still better off. I am sure she is new in UK, it is always same story of regret initially. Let her try get another shift and see her thanking God for relocating
All jobs comes with a minimum of 14 pounds salary per hour and if she can average 50 hours per week she will be going home with over 2800 pounds per month, was her 5 months salary as a Banker upto that?

Thank you jare !

Pple should stop pushing or forcing the narrative that doing cleaning or other menial jobs abroad is death sentence or some sort of abomination .
A banker here a cleaner there blah blah .. Are they supposed to just land and then “” hey we’ve been waiting for you to take on the bank material role “ greets them at the airport ?
Most of these menial jobs are transit or should I say finding my feet kind of survival job which is only for a period .
Pple should rest abeg and let those that have janded find their way in peace while those of us here too continue maneuvering life path in peace .

foreigners used to come here for jobs during the time of oil boom when our economy was better. Many Indians taught in our schools, Chinese working in our farms and there was job security. Everyone is looking for a better life, electricity, security, good environment etc

stop using fx to compare salaries. if you buy only local food, you will see that 1 m a month is very big money
I want to be as gentle as I can to reply you because I dey vex.

1m is not big salary in Nigeria again sir. I’ve discovered most people on this blog are mostly children still with their parents and don’t understand how bad things are today. To rise to manager in bank most managers are at least 35 years old with 2 kids. In Nigeria of today here is the average breakdown of a basic family with two kids.

Rent 2.5m (average 2 bedroom in non fancy area in Lagos or Abuja)
School fees (200k/child/term) this is on the decent side
Transport/electricity/generator (at least 200k)
Feeding (200k)
By the end of the month you will discover you need more to survive.

What is the Marginal Propensity to Save (MPS) for a family earning 1m a month today? Or at 35 you don’t think they should be saving and investing? Or is it till they eat soup without meat just to save that you guys will admit they are prudent? Is that how people live around the world?

Nigerians have become poorer before our eyes.
