Sadly it's evident in my area. A once bustling area became a shadow of itself for several reasons. #BringBackMSMEs |

This is a huge achievement for a 'first-class graduate' accountant from Chicago state university. It really shows that he is working. Citizens purchasing power is now low. Minister of power came out to educate us on how to manage unit. Media assistant taught us to have multiple streams of income. From high unemployment rate to high rate of begging by the citizens... Just mention one area that this government has impacted positively on the life of the citizens? Tinubu is really working |

It is too easy to start business in Nigeria. So, 1. Some enter into businesses they have no clue about 2. Some enter into businesses because they heard the nice things without the bad part 3. Some got lucky and got unplanned cash 4. Some just have no business in business Solution 1. Govt needs to strengthen Start Up Business Agencies at the Federal and State Level. 2. Registration of Business should come with short video presentation on basic business practices in multiple languages 3. Business loans should be available to support businesses only after completing some classes - group classes at the local level 4. Pair new startups with mentoring programs and give tax breaks to business owners that mentor startups 5. Discuss the risks and dangers of opening businesses you have no clue about or alternate to businesses like investment in stocks or buying shares in businesses Do not get me wrong...businesses open and close everywhere for these same reasons globally. My experience asking Nigerians show most are not really ready to start a business but they do so anyways against my advice ...then ask for support when they run into calamities. So what should you look at before starting a business... 1. is the StartUp capital enough to generate a viable business?. A N500k may generate N50k a month and a N5m may generate N500k but if your shop rent is N500k...that first business will only generate N600k of which N500k will go into rent, more than N100k will go into transport and you will be running at a loss. The N5m business may have a rent of N2m per year but you will be spending only 33% to pay rent with enough funds to expand. 2. Is this a full time business or a side business? Some businesses are meant to be sidegigs not full time...which means you need other sources of income. 3. Calculate your other expenses...can your business sustain both business and personal expenses? If not, you will be eating the business profits to fund personal expenses. That is enough for today. Have a blessed week Omooba77: |
