Have service the engine with coastal engine oil 5w30 but it dry off from the engine without reaching the 3000 miles set on the car.
Pls any help on the engine oil that will be better pls.

Few questions I need to know....

1. is the car a Nigerian used? If it is you need to ask the previous owner what type of engine oil they used...

2. By any chance did you see any oil leak on ground were the car is parked. Check for leaks around the engine area and on the ground


3. There are lots of fake engine oil in the market now. There are more fakes than original. Coastal oil is a no no for me. You are driving a 2017 car and using engine oil that you don't know the source or coz is cheap. You are not ready to be a car owner..

Once you answer the questions above I can than proceed from there

I think you might have a bigger problem. If the oil is leaking on the ground at least it can be trace somewhere. And you are 100% sure the engine oil original....
The oil is leaking through the worn out pistons. And through the PC valves. If the PC valves is worn out it needs to be replaced. It is hard to recommend a good mechanic to check all these things. And I don't want to advice you to use a thicker oil . A thinker oil will burn more slower, but na death sentence on the long run . For the sake of trying ask the Mechanic to check the things I mentioned. Have them check oil seal . Mechanic will need to open up the engine

Conclusion: if the mechanic can't seem to find the problem or have solution. Most times the solution they will offer you is to use thicker oil like 20w50 . thicker oil will burn slower but you have to change oil every 3k Miles it will end up killing the engine in the long. And when you do find the solution to your oil leak , it will be too late coz of the thickness of 20w50.


The best solution is Mobil 1 10w40 . It is mainly use for older engine . It will be burn much slower and the engine will last longer than using 20w50. And you won't have to change oil more frequently like the 20w50. And you also easily revert to the recommended oil once you solve the oil leak .

Am talking from experience. I used to ran cars on Uber and similar issues. And that is how I got into the importation of engine oil business..

Thank you for taking out time with me for this great explanation but I can be 100% guaranteed the coastal engine oil it was bought at apapa when the car came out who knows the sources but that was what I used for my Highlander before so I can say it's 100℅ percent genuine, but a mechanic recommend total engine oil now that total quartz ineo 5w30 for me I want to try that and see how it will do thank you so much. You bought the car from US so you don't know the conditions of the engine nor the oil level.

You said you got the oil in apapa when it came out of the port (I believe).

Was the engine oil service done by replacing oil (how many gals of coastal used?) or someone topped it off.

Coastal is the cheapest oil you can get super tech is better.

If you said it is drying off at 3000 miles,it takes longer than 3 months to do 3000 miles in Nigeria so how many months since last oil change.

Since you did not put 5 qt of original oil in yourself, Get 5qt fru Dru23 an oil filter. And watch the oil change your self.

Kia engine is flaky don't t mess with oil change on Kia/Hyundai you will need engine pretty soon

Just read now that v6 takes 6.3 liters of oil

Sultan get me right I bought the vehicle from USA directly ok it's 4 cylinder engine, I was told the oil was low when the vehicl came out I asked him to buy coastal oil ok which he did and change the oil with 5qts coastal engine oil that USA own which I can't guarantee because I was not the one who made the oil not produce when I was there.
My notice was that I set the oil change to 3000 but now at 1500mile it's hard to touch the bottom of the dis stick now am now asking for a better engine oil as everyone suggest I should change the oil and filter by myself
Please be specific on the type of oil and filter and who dru you're are referring to that I should buy the oil from pls can I have his no?

This engine oil matter nawao ...... Your car is supposed to be using 5w30.. Am out of Mobil 1 ... I have Castrol oil Extended Performance 65k. I import from my USA based..


The most important with engine oil is that it meets car manufacturer specifications... USA made Castrol exceeds those speficiation...


The problem with Nigeria is that most products are either fake or adulterated. Original are hard to find.

The 4 cylinder engines in that model of kia/hyundai are known to burn oil. Some burn as much as 1L per 1k miles. Kia/hyundai says this consumption level is okay and would only consider replacing the engine if the consumption is more than 1L per 1k mile.

Do not be tempted to switch to 20w50. You will simply kill that engine. The oil return holes in the piston are very tiny and clog easily with thicker oils.

Since you do not notice oil drops anywhere you park the car, do not worry your head or embark on tearing down that engine.

This is what you should do
1. Try 5w40 bran of a reputable oil brand. Total is available. Buy from total filling station. Dru23 dey here. There are others as well. Some oils do not burn as fast as others.
2. Check your oil consumption level and if it is within 1L per 1000 miles, you are okay. There are other engines that consume same. Some toyota engines are on this shaky table
3. Check your oil every time you fill up your tank or every weekend if you do mostly city driving. Do not wait until the next Oil change to check your oil.

which means top off oil and replace every 6 months when using a good oil, or 3 months when using a cheap oil.
