he can't play Batman. He's emotionless (facial) and action. He's like a script not an actor

Batman is meant to be emotionless, methodical, even rigid at times. He dyes his hair black and he's good for the role imo. Plus if you saw him as Thad castle you Won't say he's no actor

To act those things you have said needs emotions too. Convincing emotion.

A Nigerian film (luv in every word) is trending and nobody here deem it fit to talk about it. What kind of wicked and unpatriotic people are on this thread? Where is Pu7pl3

I can never endorse a movie glorifying simps.
Simps with money are a danger to society.

Just seen brave new world..

If you are expecting Steven Rodgers in the body of falcon. You are on the long thing.

They shouldn't have given falcon gimmicks of captain America..(Steve Rodgers). He should have do his own thing.

And the villain.. wack. Well, I guess it's like that because it's a layline for continuation.

The first of WB auteur driven slate couldn't multiply itself enough to get more cash.... 🤦🏽‍♂️

Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by abduleez1(m): 10:48pm On Mar 11, 2025
Well, e don dey happen.....

How you spend such big budgets on HUGE risks in a company piloted by the ultimate infamous penny pincher David Zaslav remains a mystery to me.

Joker 2 did them no favours and it's baffling the budget they gave to Todd Phillips when the original was one-quarter the price. 👀

Carry $100mn+ give both Maggie Gyllynhaal (her sophomore film) and Bong Jo Ho, Paul Thomas Anderson with similar massive budgets and over-budget Ryan Coogler film.

It's wait and see how this auteur approach works this year but heads will most likely roll.

Where they expecting making serious money from it cuz this was always gonna be niche film 👀, the kind of film A24 and Neon would totally make.

I think the euphoria of getting Bong Joon-ho next project immediately after a best picture win got WB to sign on, but this was always going to be a free hit Bong Joon-ho.

Plus apart from the critics unsurprising high praise for it, the streets are saying, the movie ain't all that good, citing writing issues. Even Critical drinker massacred the movie, i still detest his style, but this brother has been so right with his last 5 reviews, and i have an uncanny feeling that he might also be right about this 😭..Only an adverse weather made me not go out last weekend to see it, shifting it to this coming weekend, but seeing all these, i don cancel the plans jor.

If you think the BO returns were worse last year, this year might take the cake, the only movie looking like cracking 1 bill is the new Jurassic World and this is even solely based on past rep, cuz i have an inkling the it isn't going to be good, cuz this franchise, died, narratively like 3 movies ago.

I can't even blame the audience. Movies are failing to draw them to the cinema because quite frankly too many rubbish movies are finding their way to the cinema, the last true proper blockbuster cinema experience personally, was "Dune: Part Two", and that was one year ago!. With movies taking less than a month after cinematic release, to drop on VOD, it dampens the allure of cinema even more.

Oh sure, because who wouldn’t want a Hulk-sized Batman? I mean, forget the whole world’s greatest detective thing, let’s just have a Dark Knight who solves crime by smashing through walls. Or better yet, a Batman who intimidates villains with his biceps instead of his brains… just kidding.

On a serious note, Alan Ritchson has the physicality and action experience to pull off a more imposing Batman, much like Ben Affleck’s take. However, Batman isn’t just about brute strength, he requires a deep, brooding intensity and detective-like intelligence that Ritchson has only partially shown in Reacher. More importantly, Ritchson struggles to sell his emotions convincingly.

With Batman and Bruce Wayne, there’s a certain darkness you feel. Take Christian Bale, for example, his Batman wasn’t just a masked vigilante; you could sense the weight of his trauma, the psychological burden of his double life. Whether he was staring into the abyss as Bruce or unleashing controlled fury as Batman, there was always an emotional depth behind his performance.

Ritchson, on the other hand, has the physical presence but lacks that raw emotional depth. As Bruce Wayne, he’d likely come off as a rugged, imposing billionaire rather than the polished, charismatic playboy we’re used to. Simply put, while he has the look, he might not have the full emotional range needed to embody both sides of the character.

With the spending spree of Luca and Abdy, they've got to be one of the most naive execs out there....cos I don't know what to term this. Incompetence or lack of reading the room.

More than half of 2025 slate are auteur driven risky projects; to cap it off, almost ALL are with unfathomable budgets. Even A24 and NEON or Focus Features won't risk it with the directors and cast Pamela and Mike has gone all out for.

This penchant of throwing big money at reputable directors and filmmakers just to get them into the studio don't really seem like smart business. The filmmakers ain't complaining tho.

2026 is another big question mark as WB is easily being swallowed up with the kind of mega projects Disney and Universal are releasing that year.
DUNE 3 is the only dependable and bankable film to gross big numbers the studio has that year.

When Harry Met Sally (1989)

The charm of When Harry Met Sally lies in its simplicity. It's not trying to be flashy or overly dramatic, which makes it feel so much more authentic. It gives us a philosophical, comical take on love and friendship, all while exploring the age-old question: Can men and women really just be friends?

It's practically a perfect movie to me. Laugh out loud funny, relatable, timeless, authentic, and incredibly well acted. I'll give it some time, but I feels like it's other there with my favorite films of all time in terms of how much I loved it. I only wish I could watch it for the first time again.

10/10
where did you download this movie please?

I don't really think it's mainly because of Bong Joon Ho Best Picture win.....the trades say it most likely has to do with WB's co-CEOs Mike De Luca and Pamela Abdy wanting auteurs and prestige filmmakers being more prominent in WB's slate. They were tasked to attract talent back to the studio where WB regains it pedigree as a hub for "talent". One of the reasons why there was talk that Christopher Nolan was offered a blank check to make his next film at WB.

The CEOs have the right idea to at least bring "Original" ideas to the big screens but their over enthusiastic habit of overspending on budgets just to show the industry you're backing talent is a dümb move. And it might cost them their job.
Can you believe this people gave Todd Phillips $200mn for Joker 2 and never watched the cut until it hit screens and fans began hating it? Outrageous and reckless oversight. They just had blind faith on the director.

I'm just wondering who those two are trying to impress. Cos these monies they throw at "niche" projects with unproven box office filmmakers is just weird.

MICKEY17 is the least of WB's duo problems right now....it's trying to rectify similar issues with big budgeted niche films like upcoming Màggie Gyllynhaal's The Bride. Imagine spending a hundred million dollars for a movie even a whole Netflix dropped cos of it was too "expensive".
You don hear Netflix complain about cost for film before.....but Mike and Abdy were more than willing to foot the bill.

If they somehow survive this year with the kind of slate and budget they've thrown at movies, it would be a miracle. It's so bad the entire WB is hinging this year's box office success solely on James Gunn SUPERMAN performance.

Regarding this year's box office potential, I strongly believe this year would surpass last year's gross.
There's strong lineup of films from Universal and Disney to lit things up. And here's some billion dollar potential candidates: SUPERMAN, HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON, ZOOTOPIA 2 & AVATAR: FIRE AND ASH.
