Lately, Mallam Nasir Elrufai has been involved in a lot of media shenanigans which culminated in his defection to SDP from APC within the weekend. These moves are obviously geared towards the 2027 general elections with Elrufai positioning to play a major role in the 2027 elections. But I don’t trust him. Yes, I don’t trust Elrufai. I might be wrong but something inside me tells me Elrufai is still working for Tinubu. Yes, the man Tinubu is too politically shrewd to have just drop a character like Elrufai from his ministerial list just like that knowing the level of influence Elrufai welds within the northern powerbrokers. What if Tinubu and Elrufai decided to play a game. And the game is simple - Elrufai gets dropped from the ministerial list. He plays victim and gets sympathy from northern populace. Second part of the script is that they start to ‘persecute’ him which increases his victim script and makes him even more popular in the north. Then he starts leading a supposed opposition coalition to ‘dislodge’ Tinubu. Now, unsuspecting opposition members joins this supposed coalition only to play into hands of Elrufai and Tinubu. Take Peter Obi for instance. I’m sure they are already luring him to SDP that he would be the candidate of the united opposition but can he trust that? If Obi is not careful, he might take the bait and join the SDP only to not be given the ticket and then he would no longer be in the ticket to challenge Tinubu in 2027. I’m not saying Obi should not join coalition forces but he should be careful of characters like Elrufai. Man is too evil that even if he’s not playing games, he should be left to remain irrelevant for life in the scheme of things in Nigeria. This is why I’m not moved by Bashir Elrufai’s recent romance of Obidients. A lot of things smell fishy to me. But maybe I’m just thinking too much. |

The agbado urchins are at it again. Carrying out their latest assignments. The whole camp is in panic. Elrufai is too big to carry out any clandestine task for Tinubu. If Elrufai is with you, the whole world will know and if he's against you, it's a fight to the death. He does not pretend. How smart do you sound thinking Elrufai is working for Tinubu when he's actively dampening the momentum of Tinubu's campaign in the North and prying voters that voted Tinubu in 2023 away from him? No use this sense cross road o. |

The coalition has to agree from the get go who will be the presidential candidate and vice else Obi shouldn't go near it. Such agreement needs to be signed by all parties so that any primaries will be just for formalities Penguin2: |

fergie001:Did you truly believe president Tinubu and Elrufai have issue? Elrufai is one of the northerners with the ideology of South should complete 8 years. His Excellency greeted him specially on his birthday just some weeks ago |

Arobaga:I disagree with this. We should be careful making the mistake that we made in 2015 by voting Buhari because we wanted “anything but Jonathan”. Elrufai is a character who should never go close to presidential powers. |

| Re: 2027: Can Elrufai Be Trusted? by Penguin2(op): 5:28pm On Mar 11, 2025 |
fergie001:I think not. Man is seriously trying to rally opposition figures together with support of Atiku and co. Taking Uba Sani out will definitely be part of the plot but he definitely has his at Vice Presidential slot at least. And it is my thinking that if the north is to give Peter Obi a running mate, for instance, Elrufai will be one of their first choices if not the only choice. But asides the fact I hate Elrufai regaining influence and going close to Aso Rock and presidential powers, the question is, “is he truly sincere in these moves or playing the script of Tinubu and APC?” |

Penguin2:El-Rufai is not running for VP seat or Presidential seat. He knows many loathe him in the South or Christian-dominated Northern areas. Again, he wants to be the face.... Obi isn't in the picture, that's the truth. He can't even be part of the coalition, his supporters need him to contest for President and nothing else, with the egos of people in that coalition, it's Atiku or nothing. El-Rufai knows Tinubu is not a yesterday politician, his priority is to teach his old friend a lesson. At best, he is preparing for 2031. |

fergie001:I’d have argued with you but I know you have information. When you told me Val was going to APC I doubted it only to see it happen. But what I can say is that any coalition they are planning to build without Obi as the fulcrum, it’s as good as the north accepting Tinubu’s 8 years. And by the way, why has Bashir been saying good things about Obi in recent days and even calling himself Obidient? Cruise? |
| Re: 2027: Can Elrufai Be Trusted? by fergie001(mod): 10:19pm On Mar 11, 2025 |
Penguin2:They want to divide the Southern votes. Whatever they are doing has the backing of the Northern elite, so the only way they can do that is push a Southern narrative.... Who is that Southerner that can stand toe to toe with Tinubu? Obi. |
| Re: 2027: Can Elrufai Be Trusted? by flokii: 11:55pm On Mar 11, 2025 |
If you think someone like El-rufai will labour so much, forge alliance and even decamp to another party only to hand the reward to Obi, then you must be a toddler. I don't even think Obi is their target, they want the South South region to tag along but it's impossible.. SSners are not as dense or emotional as some ones. They know the grave danger of switching sides from a sensible man that prioritize security of all regardless of ethnicity or religion to a muslim fanatic who is under terrorism watchlist and supervised blo0dshed of Christians in Southern Kaduna when he was Governor. Nah, SSners who are predominantly Christians will rather continue with a liberal muslim man than put their lives at risk. |

helinues:Guy you're just yarning rubbish So El rufai is working for tinubu by casting his name? By telling the North and whole Nigeria how bad this current regime is, calling his team combination of illitrates. If he is working for tinubu, he would have just decamped silently and kept mute. How is he working for tinubu by trying to unite all the opposition strong contestants together in one party against tinubu? That's how you guys claimed that Kwakwanso is working for tinubu till he made a statement that Lagos people want to colonize North and you all started calling him Ethnic Bigot, some of your people even said they will rather vote Obi than him ![]() Your IQ is low sha |

helinues:ElRufai’s only ideology is ElRufai. He never said the south should complete 8 years, he o lay said power should go t9 the south and it was a calculation in which he would be VP to Amaechi. |

Penguin2:Abeg, stop asking questions like this. Someone like El-Rufai shouldn't have his names to be mentioned again in Nigerian politics, not to talk of whether he can be trusted or not. Seems his charms and jazz is already getting hold of someone like you. You people are just too easy to deceive and manipulate (no wonder oyinbo colonialists got us easily). And he hasn't even started dangling money yet and you can't discern him. Rufai is a wicked breed of entity, and I hope you know he 's more evil than Buhari, especially for the fact that he is well read and intelligent (more brain energy to carry out evil deeds) ![]() Someone like him should be thrown into oblivion especially this time that he has little power and political influence. he should be nailed away forever. |

Now to your question Op, hell rufai is too big to be tinubu's errand boy. And yes he can be trusted. You just need a long spoon when dining with the devil. |
| Re: 2027: Can Elrufai Be Trusted? by Nobody: 5:32am On Mar 12, 2025 |
I doubt he is working for Tinubu. That terrorist tag on him really pained him. Infact, I think Tinubu axed him intentionally because he may have worked for Tinubu by Day and Atiku by night because of Fulani blood. Otherwise, what explains the massive number votes Atiku got in Kaduna? My major concern is the terrible lies of Nigerian politicians. If Tinubu offers him a big deal tomorrow, he may dump SDP again and said that the "gods of Jupiter deceived him". By the way, PETER OBI should he wary of that man call El Rufai. As much as he is a performing, hardworking technocrat which is commemdable, people like him should not be allowed 1 feet close to power. This is a type of man that can wipe out an entire tribe because of vendetta. |
