Nigerias GDP is less than 200 billion dollars but yet you want to claim Lagos GDP is 259 billion?😅😅😅 It's impossible ..so the GDP per Capita of Lagos is 13 thousand dollars yet the entire state is filled with old rickety 20 year old Toyotas 😅😅😅

The GDP of Nigerian is now 199 Billion, Nigeria is now even below Ethiopia. in 2011 when I looked at this least Nigeria had a GDP of almost 500 Billion while Ethiopia was at 56 Billion. You can clearly see the effects of Tribalism which feeds corruption.

Here is the link here on wikipedia for those unsure.

Let's even assume without conceding that all these stats were to be true...are they not supposed to translate into reducing hunger and providing better purchasing power for the citizens in Lagos state?
So why are most citizens in Lagos state still crying over hunger and starvation?
Most of them esp the indigenes cannot even afford the basics for survival!
So what then is the essence of these stats?

For those arguing with this guy, what he said is not entirely false. Though the %age may be on the high side.

An economy where almost everything we buy on a small scale is supplied and marketed by Igbo people. From Toothpick, Shirts, Shoes, Car batteries, Gearboxes or complete engines etc. This activity is what builds and develops an economy.

Dangote produces just Fuel, Cement, Sugar. But you cannot go to his factories and buy them. The big banks only deal on money. Which is just a piece of paper and only becomes useful when you give it to importers(Igbos) to bring in actual goods which we all need to keep the economy moving. SME's are the backbone of any economy everywhere in the world.

So, Igbos contribute immensely to the economic growth of Lagos. On top that they still invest the bulk of their money is the same Lagos.

Yes o my brother. Tinubu finish work for that state.

Governor Tinubu, now President Tinubu, laid the foundation. I remember when he went to China to hustle for investors for the Lekki Free trade zone. That alone changed the fortunes of Lagos. Same place is where the biggest US embassy in the world is now being built. Same place also houses the deepest sea port in Nigeria.
Oga you people should take it easy naaaa. Lagos was well established before Tinubu became Govenor. You keep talking about Lekki FTZ, please can you quantify it's impact in terms of figures to Lagos GDP and show us how you arrived at this stats? Make una take am easy with lies and propaganda.

Let me correct you Nigeria is not Africa's largest economy, in fact in 2023 Nigeria's GDP was $363billion and it grew by more than 3% approx in 2024. How come Lagos is $259billion? The whole thing doesn't add up at all. That is how you see propaganda and lies.

I suggest you take a refresher course in economics and learn the difference between nominal GDP and GDP ppp. Even our nominal GDP is far above what you quoted.

Nigeria’s GDP (PPP) is over $1.4 trillion according to the world bank’s own figures and other reputable sources.
So which one is Lagos GDP that was quoted here? Is it real or nominal GDP? Bros Nigeria's GDP is hanging at the $400billion mark so there is no way that figure for Lagos state is accurate. This is yet another sensational gimmick at propaganda and lies.

You're not successful as a leader if your vision is not passed on effectively to leaders after you. Tinubu envisioned a great Lagos, and successive administrations have done so well by pushing to achieve that vision.

If you think Igbos develop Lagos, you're right in your own right. But you must admit that for Igbos to come and 'develop' Lagos, the environment for Igbo businesses to thrive was created by the leadership of the state. If it was easy, ask Igbo leaders to create such in one of its cities.

I've said my own. If you like mastubate on this comment, I won't reply you! I have cum in peace ✌️
The enabling environment started after the civil war in the 70s when Apapa and Tincan ports were expanded. You guys talk like as if igbos came to Lagos during Tinubu's era as governor. Take it easy with lies and propaganda.

The Crouching Tiger About To Pounce, On the Cusp of Something Special

This is so heart -warming. One, it shows the innate resilience of the Nigerian economy. Two, the economic reforms of PBAT are yielding fruits.

Lagos was 'lured' into the Nigerian project because of its development not otherwise. In fact, Lagos economic prosperity informed in no small measure the almagation of Nigeria in 1914, when much of Nigeria was collectively no more than a village square. Lagos had wheeled away from the pack in terms of development.

Another thing the report showed is that people's purchasing power has improved, and things are looking up gradually.

To those guys that opined that Nigeria's GDP was 199b USD, u need to know what GDP really means. When Nigeria rebases it, it will be somewhere in the north of 500 billion USD.

It's not surprising that Lagos accounts for more than half of our GDP. For centuries, this small island has always a tour de force in economic terms, long before pretenders to the throne of Maximus unconscionably claimed they developed it with their vacuous commercial efforts.
See this one is a big lie how can Nigeria be growing at a GDP of more than 3% approx from $363billion in 2023 and you are saying Lagos is $259billion? You guys and lies and propaganda are a match made in Hell.

There you go again just like I predicted. Who are your people committing suicide?
Jonathan was borrowing to pay salaries and subsidies, Buhari was not only borrowing, he was also printing money so that ignorant people like you can buy rice at #18k per bag and fuel at #180. Little did you know that you were eating your future and those of your unborn children.

You may like to read up on Argentina and Lebanon to see where Nigeria was heading before hard decisions were taken by this administration. Now, the economy is growing again and it's unlikely that Nigeria would default on its loans or go into recession at all in Tinubu's first four years. Even inflation has declined. Our global ratings are going up again.
But like I said, someone like you would never understand since you can't see beyond the next plate of food
Oga the economy is not growing. These lies and propaganda no dey work.

Which Jagaban bikonu. Lagos has always been what it is because of the ports and the fact that the former federal capital territory was in close proximity. You guys always spin it in the context like as if Lagos was no where before Tinubu came in, which is a lie. Even the Lekki Deep sea port and the free trade Zone no one can confidently show via statistics its impact on Lagos GDP. How many Ships per year use that port? Still no one can answer these questions.
