mrvitalis:World Economics estimates Nigeria's 2024 GDP at $2.513 trillion in PPP terms (Purchasing Power Parity) and an initial estimate of $2.593 trillion for 2025. This figure is 91% higher than the official estimate published by the World Bank. World Economics' methodology incorporates crucial factors often overlooked in official estimates, such as: The size of the informal economy: It is estimated that 57% of Nigeria's economic activity occurs outside the formal sector. Outdated GDP base year data: Many countries use outdated base years for their GDP calculations, leading to an underestimation of economic growth. Nigeria uses a 14 year old GDP base year. By adjusting for these factors where required, World Economics provides a more accurate picture of Nigeria's true economic size and potential. For reference, offical data reported Nigeria's GDP as $568 billion in 2015 constant prices and $375 billion in current prices for 2024. Data source: World Economics Research, London |

obyno82:Your problem is poor education or a stunted brain or both. The article clearly states GDP (PPP), my post that you quoted clearly states GDP (PPP) and you are here talking about real and nominal making stooopid comments asking daft questions? If you don’t know what GDP (PPP) is shouldn’t you google before responding? The only sensation is the level of dumb products of our educational system. |

mrvitalis:Nigeria's GDP is currently being rebased. In fact, it is completed but not yet released. Lagos has rebased theirs. Within the context of the national rebase, Lagos' new GDP sits comfortably and logically. |

mrvitalis:In 2023, now past, Nigeria's nominal GDP was $363.85 billion so what year are you quoting 1998? Furthermore, nominal GDP is predicted to hit $379.13 USD Billion by Q4 2025 so only od knows where you get your own figures from. Suffice to say some of us are aware of you and your nauseating ilk to accept that only those not know aware of your antecedent here as a chronic hate of the SW and Yorubas, you envy and feel inferior to, will not understand your obsession with using half-truth and even outright deception to try and diminish the achievement of the region and people which, in real terms, is second to non in Nigeria.

obidark:At least you were humble enough to ask unlike others who comment on what they know nothing about. Nominal GDPis the actual raw GDP measured and unadjusted. So if you produced $400b worth of goods and services that is your nominal GDP Real GDP is your GDP adjusted for inflation. As an example inflation is 30% If sell 1 car today for 10m and 1 sell the same car next year for N13m. Under nominal GDP it may appear my GDP has increased to N13m but the reality is that 13m only reflects increase in prices due the inflation of 30% in reality my GDP has not changed so in real GDP we adjust the inflation of 30% and we get real output of N10m meaning no growth. Real GDP measures real actual growth not inflated figures due to price rises due to inflation. Finally we have GDP (PPP) which is purchasing power parity. Since every country uses different currencies but GDP is calculated in dollars for comparison, PPP is used to adjust GDP to factor in differences in what a dollar can buy in different economies. For instance $1 will buy you. almost 2 liters of petrol in Nigeria but in the Uk it will only buy you 1 liter. Similarly $10,000 will get you a luxury 5/6 bed rental property in Nigeria but you will NOT be able to rent a room in a shared house in London for the same amount. So PPP is used to adjust for the value of a $ in different countries because the purchasing power of $1 in one country is different from the purchasing power of $1 in another. Think of it this way, nominal is how much physical dollars do you have, Real is the actual value of the dollar and PPP is what the dollar can buy in your country compared to other countries. |

mrvitalis:Lol. You're a clown. Hope you can see the sources at the bottom. No one has time for your semantics you wish to use to assist your agenda of deception. You've been doing it her like forever as a dishonest hack and from years ago when you announced Obi as unfit to lead only to swallow your own vomit be begin de lsring hims as "the best" since he de lsfed tou run for the Presidency. You are a joker and a shamelessly unprincipled liar who is highly agitated and physically disturbed once the SW and/or Yorubas are lauded. If figures are contradictory, you cannot use the one that suits you to makes your claim. You should prove your figures are correct exhaustively.
