Help! I’m confused, I got my ITA on October 23rd 2024 trades and my AOR is November 14th. For now my biometrics and medicals are completed and passed. Info sharing, criminality is passed, security not started but my eligibility is recommended passed as seen on my GCMS notes I ordered in early February. There’s a recommendation with review required for my self employed work experience from Nigeria and my category is through CEC with my work experience here in Canada which gave me the ITA. What do I do next? Other people I submitted before are getting approvals already. So down. Help anybody on what to do please.

First take a deep breath.
1. Was any specific reason given for the "review required" on your self-employment?
2. Also, go through the documents required by IRCC for self-employed reference and compare against the ones you submitted. If you feel they are not convincing enough you might need to submit more documentation.
3. When did you apply and how many weeks did it take you to get your gcms.

Your CEC gave you an ITA, but the work experience from Nigeria under self-employment is still added to your points. It’s possible that some documents are missing, or the officer may not be convinced enough by the documents you uploaded, which could have led the officer to call for a review. This can easily be passed, or an ADR (Additional Document Request) could be made for more documentation. Don’t compare your application to others, as no two applications are the same. The processing time still remains 6 months, so you’re still within the processing time.

Your work experience was flaged by the VO Under Regulation 87.1(3)(b) self employment does not count as work experience in CEC...
Your application will be probably under review the next visa officer will review the application and to make final decision..
Go to justice law below read Regulation 87.1(3)(b)

Re: Canadian Express Entry/Federal Skilled Worker Program - Connect Here Part 11 by vickgrad:
You got your ITA on Oct 22 under the CEC category based on Canadian work experience you filled.

Oct 23 draw is for Trade,

If IRCC is vetting your document under CEC then I’m afraid it might come off as inelligible since the following factors are what count as Canadian experience
1: not self employed
2: you can’t be a student for the duration you are claiming CEC
3: you must have a valid status for the duration you claim the Work experience
4: it must be a minimum of 1 year achieved within a 3 year period.

It seems like your self employment claim here might be the little bottle neck..

What my strategy will be:
1: find a way to prove your CEC is no longer under self employed…. I don’t know how you will prove that sha

In all best of luck bro.

GCMS notes is only free if you are applying from inside Canada.

If you want from outside Canada you might consider the following options
1: ask a friend in Canada to order the notes for you
2: use an online agent, they charge about 50-100 CAD for that.

My self employment did not give me the ITA but my work experience here in Canada did.

Apart from the mandatory documents for self-employment, such as Business Registration Certificates, Tax documents, etc did you add reference letters from your clients/business partners, ID cards, invoices/receipts of goods and services provided, bank statements that shows proof of business with your clients etc..? The latter are not listed as required documents on the IRCC website but they go a long way in solidifying your business and convincing the VO. Just in case you are wondering, I am also a self-employed applicant, also CEC candidate and I submitted everything I could lay my hands on to prove my business. BTW, most of the things listed in the previous replies are not the issues because your CEC eligibility is not based on your self-employed work experience i.e. your self-employed experience was not acquired in Canada.

So far, any activity listed in your personal or work history in your Express Entry application can still prompt IRCC to request documentation. You must provide it or detailed explanation , or your application may be rejected. For example, an applicant who was an in-land was asked to provide proof of funds. He tried to quote a section of the law for an exemption from the proof of funds requirement, but the visa officer rejected the application. This process can sometimes be complicated, so it’s best to have your documentation ready to support your application

Yes I Did. The company was mine. I’m just wonder what the issue is and why they’ve not requested additional documents if they need. My eligibility has been in progress since early January.

Good. Of the documents you listed here, only the tax documents I did not add because it wasn’t listed as required and I didn’t have it then. Plus my company is inactive on CAC. As it stands now, do I wait for ADR or get these documents and send through web form? This is my confusion. Most people in the group I’m in said wait till you get ADR since the eligibility has been recommended passed that I may not get ADR.

That NOC is for cooks. How do you become a cook at a restaurant in Nigeria? Do you go for any training or,education related to ur job , or do you learn the skill on the job? To get an ITA in a trade draw, you just need to be in the Express Entry pool. When a trade draw occurs, you can be invited based on your CRS score. However, you will need to prove to IRCC how you acquired the skill to be a cook. You will also need a letter of reference stating your job duties, salary, and when you were hired, along with your pay slips

Thank you for responding @affoncad. I have 7months experience as a cook in Canada (I am on a WP) and I want to use the rest of my experience from running a restaurant in Nigeria. Is there a sample draft I can use for my reference?

This sample reference letter for IRCC is based on your job. Also, try to add your Canadian payslip and merge everything together, then upload it in the job reference letter section. They may likely request(ADR) for employment contract and statement of your account later showing salary payments, as it will be hard to claim cash payments inside Canada.

Good morning everyone, hope this message meet everyone of you well. Please I'm here to seek everyone's sincere opinion and advice most especially the professional ones in this group. Me and my wife are considering to migrate to Canada even though I have been researching on the easiest paths we can explore to make the process seamless in terms of time and financial affordability but I consider it necessary to come here to seek more opinion and advice to make us make informed decision. Please below is our profile:
Husband:
Educational background: BSc psychology (2.2)
Age: 42 Work Experience: Business/trader no formal work experience before
Wife:
Educational background: BSc Sociology (2.1), MSW Health Social Work
Age: 38, work Experience: Medical Social work (Volunteer) Both in Hospital and mental health services
Presently working with state government as a teacher, guidance and counselor with 3 years experience.
So my questions are as follows
1) Between educational qualification and work experience which is best eligible for PNPs or have higher chances? The reason is that, my wife is going to be main applicant and if that is the case, she doesn't want to get registered with Social work regulatory body before migration, (we believe the process is cumbersome and most times Nigeria social work standard not fully recognize in Canada, so additional training may be required). And most importantly, each provinces have their seperate regulations. Or is it possible we start process without Social work registration? Please we will need more insight and help to enable us navigate the process.
2) which other ways or path ways we can explore that will simplify our process?
Thank you so much for your anticipated assistance.

The Pearson Test of English (PTE Core or PTE Academic) is another easier substitute for both IELTS and CELPIP.
PTE comprises of three sections and has shorter tasks compared to IELTS.
The test is cmpletely computer based and all 3 sections are written in one day (2hrs) and results are released in two days.

PTE core is acceptable by IRCC for Canada Express Entry visa application, PTE Academic for worldwide study visa, UK visa application....

For lectures/guide, comprehensive study material, test templates and direct test questions & answers; Reach out here: _08106337690.

Looking for something new and easy to pass if you have given IELTS many attempts, take PTE

Your graduating grade of 2.1 or 2.2 is not important in Express Entry. With your wife’s level of education and work experience, social work registration in Nigeria is not important in Canada and is not required for Express Entry. The main challenge now is the age factor for your family. At 38 years, the best approach would be to aim for a good score in IELTS and make a strong effort to learn French and pass the French exam (TCF or TEF). It is often a misconception that PNPs are an easy route to Canada if your age is high or your CRS score is low. Please understand that they are not, as many applicants are also hoping for PNPs, and the required score or criteria may be high. I’m not saying it’s impossible, but given your age factor, the French pathway remains the best option.
