The major network providers have recently increased their data prices.

As a result of this, subscribers have found that they now have to spend as much as 500 naira or even more to purchase just 1GB of data.

However, all hope is not lost.

I recently studied all the data plans and I was able to figure out some of the data plans that are still reasonably affordable.

Here I am going to limit myself to MTN because it has the widest coverage and more people use their service for internet browsing.

I have broken these data plans into two, as follows:

1) those who spend more money on voice calls

2) those who spend more money on internet data like me

If you belong to the first category, then you need to start using MTN Ifediche data plan.

MTN Ifediche bundles are plans made up of a combination of data and airtime. It gives you two bundle options:

Ifediche N300, which offers N550 Airtime and 750Mb Data.

To subscribe to Ifediche N300, use the data code: *312*12*1#

Ifediche N1000, which offers N2000 Airtime and 3Gb Data.

To subscribe to Ifediche N1,000, use the data code: *312*12*2#

That’s not all. Ifediche allows you to share your Ifediche 1000 bundle with your family and friends by adding their MTN numbers to your beneficiaries list.

However, if you are an internet person like me who spend more money on data, then Ifediche will be more expensive for you.

As a ready-made alternative, you can use MTN SME data plans.

With the normal MTN data plan using *312# on your phone...

...you will get 2.7Gb for a whooping 2,000 naira

However, if you use MTN SME data plan...

...you will get 5Gb for just 1,417 naira.

So, by using MTN SME data plan, you would have gotten almost TIMES 2 of what you will normally get using the code *312#.

And you will still get a change of over 500 naira.

In your own opinion, which do you think is more favorable?

Personally, I believe MTN SME data plans are still the cheapest right now.
