On October 30, 2023, an attempted impeachment coup against Governor Siminalayi Fubara was orchestrated by the Martin Amaewhule-led Assembly, allegedly masterminded by the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike. However, their plot failed as the good people of Rivers State rose in defiance, rejecting and resisting this undemocratic attack on their amiable and accountable Governor.

A Desperate Power Struggle

After two years of intense political battles between Governor Fubara and Nyesom Wike, it became clear that Fubara had politically outmaneuvered and relegated Wike. In a last-ditch effort to regain control, Wike manipulated the Supreme Court judgment, which set aside Oko Jumbo as Speaker and controversially reinstated the Martin Amaewhule-led Assembly, despite the Nigerian Constitution clearly stating that Amaewhule and his 26 colleagues automatically lost their Assembly seats when they defected from the PDP to the APC.

Despite this judicial ambush, Governor Fubara honored the Supreme Court ruling, implementing it immediately after receiving the Certified True Copy (CTC), demonstrating his unwavering commitment to the rule of law.

Desperate Attempts to Cling to Power

Having lost yet another battle, Wike and his allies tried a new strategy, issuing a 48-hour ultimatum to the Governor, demanding that he re-present the state budget. However, when they witnessed the overwhelming public backlash, they resorted to further destabilization tactics, attacking key arms of government.

One of their latest sinister plots is the false accusation of age falsification against Justice Simeon Amadi, the Rivers State Chief Judge. His actual offense? Rejecting a ₦5 billion bribe to facilitate the illegal impeachment of Governor Fubara.

In another desperate attempt to manipulate the local government structure and disrupt the upcoming LGA elections, Wike and his cohorts have allegedly orchestrated an arrest warrant for Justice Enebeli and other members of RISIEC, a clear move to cripple the judiciary and suppress democratic processes in Rivers State.

It should be known that up to October 2023 when the house wanted to impeach the governor,he didn't have any problem with them and still doesn't have if not for Wike who according to himself purchased their expression of interest forms and therefore they must answer to him according to the oath they have taken in their coven.
And what was Wike problem,he said Fubara who was barely five months in office has taken over his structure, and what was the structure,he wants to be receiving 25% of Rivers revenue.
I think the supreme court should have included in that judgement that 25% of Rivers money should go to Wike so that him and you people will allow us rest.
