Uche559:It is really hard to be civil to people like you because one knows you are commenting out of bias, prejudice and crass ignorance. How is the tax reform bill "unfavourable" to the masses when working Nigerians, as one pivotal change that favours the majority, will not pay a kobo of tax unless earning over 1 million naira annually, around 83k monthly, when they are currently paying tax on earnings above 300k which is 25k a month? The rest I cannot even be bothered to explain because of how backwards you have shown yourself to be. I really wish all you hateful and ignorant people, who would cut your own nose to spite your face, could be given your own separate nation you can then drown in backwardness. You keep spinning out lame rhetoric about "unfavourable to common man" when things being done are actually in the interest of the common man you pretend to care about. Can't people like you just make the effort to read more? |

Factcheck0001:God bless you. These same people will shout 24/7 they are more intelligent than others worldwide yet, what intelligent people speak with ignorance and clear bias always? Incontrovertible and definitive sign of intellect is the ability to look at everything objectively and refrain from rushing to make ignorant conclusions, or deliberately spread lies and misinformation, because you hate others. Ask the Mumu to explain even the highlights of the tax reform bill and him, along with virtually all Igbos, won't be able to. All they know is that it must be opposed as it comes from Tinubu. Whether such improves their lives and that of their generations unborn massively, they do not care. Their own is just to hate blindly. Abominable people. |

Uche559:The motivation for OUR representatives and senators to align with the president against the people, is obvious to see. [quote author=NLCreator post=126854133]Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 elections, has defended the purchase of sports utility vehicles (SUVs) for members of the national assembly. There have been reports that the leadership of the 10th national assembly has bought SUVs for all lawmakers. Each SUV is said to be valued at N160 million. The LP had asked members of the party in the national assembly to kick against “wastage”. While responding to questions during a press conference in Abuja on Monday, the former governor of Anambra said the SUVs are not personal cars of the lawmakers, noting that they are for official use. “Let me start with the issue of Labour Party members in the house. I have actually discussed this issue with them,” Obi said. “Surprisingly, I can tell you I heard that these vehicles are official cars. They have to use it. It is meant for office. “So it is not as if it is their vehicle. They said it is official cars and you are meant to use it while you are in the senate.” Obi also hinted at contesting for the country’s number one position in 2027, adding that Nigeria deserves dedicated and visionary leaders who will lead the country towards a brighter future. https://www.thecable.ng/theyre-for-official-use-obi-defends-purchase-of-n160m-suv-for-lawmakers/amp ] |

megamank:Stop talking pedestrian and ignorant hogwash while pretending to care about the masses. If you truly care about the masses, you'd have studied the tax reform bill to know the masses are the major beneficiary therefore meaning the bill is worth fighting to deliver. You educated Nigerians, functional illiterates in reality, are a big let down to illterate Nigerians you should educating and helping to understand complex issues that are beneficial for them so they get behind it. It least they have the genuine excuse of not being able to read. What is you excuse for never haven studied the tax reform bill as your ignorant post confirm iss surely the case? Progressive Nigerians are fighting for the betterment of our nation yet your sort who shouted resource control, true fiscal federalism, LG autonomy etc passionately in the past now cannot seem to get behind those desirables currently being delivered before our eyes. In this case, the reps have done well and are not "unrepentant figureheads". They have done their jobs, as representatives of their people, and can be proud of themselves for aiding the delivery of what is another reform positioning Nigeria on course to be a developed nation. It is ignorant enemies of Nigerian like you who deserve the likes of Ndume and Bala Mohammed, and others who opposed the bill vehemently, leading you in your own separate and backwards nation that will be worse than the worst terror zones in Nigeria. Maybe, as one's example, you know more than the DG of SMEDAN who, in your opinion, must be an "unrepentant figurehead" for supporting the bill rather than a technocrat who has read the bill to then endorse it. People like you are the problem of Nigeria. https://blueprint.ng/how-tax-reform-billsll-restructure-nigerias-economy/ Even the Small And Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) has said it will engage small businesses nationwide on the implications and opportunities of the proposed tax reform bills.

anonimi:You've never been sensible in your miserable life and in the many years you've sat on this forum always forcasting doom and gloom as the unprogressive loser you are. You know more than the literally thousands of technocrats and stakeholder who have endorsed the bill and educated the Reps about it before, as usual, making the dumb claim the reps and Senators are "aligning with the President against the people"? It isn't hard to tell Nairalanders who are losers in life and want things to be bleak and negative for everyone like their own failed and miserable lives. Anyone who is truly progressive and wants the growth and development of Nigeria will celebrate the passage of this bill even if Tinubu is their sworn enemies. Decent people know when to quit playing politics of bitterness and hatred to support what delivers progress to society at large. Never so you IPOB tout who will surely be the only Nigerians vehemently and toxically against the passage of the Bill and not even ordinary Northerners. |

Kk4:The overall goal is to increase tax burden on the people without anything in return, which is T-pain's Lagos master plan since 1999 that has wrecked 20 million Lagosians into Bourdillon beggars in the absence of civil service jobs that pay well to live in dignity with common services and utilities adequately provided. Uche559:How does the tax bill which frees the poor from tax liability and which encourages production over entitlement - how is this harsh treatment? The VAT rate has been stepped back to 7.5% from 10%. Exactly how is it harsh. Even Grey Parrots use more initiative than this " copy and follow" mindset. Criticism must make sense. You cannot just fling mud and hope some will stick. Every act of senseless criticism makes it harder for true criticism which is needed. |

anonimi:Dullard. How can anyone happily bask in ignorance this shamelessly and publicly? You are no "omoluabi". Many of us know you here and your IPOB antics. Omoluabi are deemed "progressive" and "sophisticated" for established reasons. Progressive and sophisticated because they can be objective enough to always see the bigger picture. Meaning, even if they detest Tinubu, they will familiarise themselves with the essence of the reform bills and get behind them, if beneficial for Nigeria. Bode George, a sworn hater of Tinubu, is displaying Omoluabi predisposition while an IPOB lackey like you is making empty noise to satisfy his blind and inobjective hatred of others. The bolded in your post, I. e "more taxes", disgracess you. Mumu, the tax reform bill consist of four separate bills with some not even about tax per se. Besides even those intrinsically related to taxes offer Nigerian individuals, small businesses etal reduced tax bill and liability. For example, using the summary of the tax reform in second image, it is clear from number 1 that Small businesses with an annual turnover of ₦50 million or less are exempt from income tax. Number 4 shows that the new minimum income threshold for tax payment means majority of Nigerians will now no longer pay income tax. Didirin IPOB layabout and loser, you should explain where you got the bolded in your post, which is a bare-faced lie, to be attacking reform bills that massively favours the "common man", totally removing the tax burden for 80% to 90% of them, and our SMEs that employ 80% of Nigerians with how it makes more money available for them to invest in improving capacity and efficacy? If those in the highest population group, i.e the masses, translating to literally many millions of Nigerians ( and SMEs that employ them) will actually pay less tax then only a fool will note your real agenda and IPOB motivation. Well-meaning technocrats devised the reform bills. Not bitter and hateful hacks like you that God has abandoned ages ago. It is why you go from disaster to disaster in your home region of the SE and in every aspect of your wretched lives. https://placng.org/Legist/understanding-the-tax-reform-bills/

Even that 20% by population is still too much. Probably we will have another tax reform bill when PBAT enters for 2nd term or under the new president by 2031. Population should be 0% if possible. |

anonimi:Desperado giving himself likes and shares because no one will. I cannot educate your ignorance. Suffice to say a common concept worldwide is the efficient collection of tax and VAT from those who must pay those. Especially wealthy and highly profitable entities who, if ethical and responsible, should have no problems being socio-economic development partners of the political leaders of a nation. Of course government must raise more revenue for government through taxes. It is what some of the nations off the world, deemed the best to live in, are about. The UK, for example, is virtually about taxes with such paying for the huge benefits Britons enjoy to include, comparatively, some of the best infrastructures in the world, free NHS healthcare, welfare benefit for the most deprived etc, etc. Nigeria cannot be left behind and must head in the same direction if she wishes to be more like the UK and less like Somalia and Afghanistan. Sure we must tweak our targets to match our reality but the socio-economic aims remain the same for all progressive nations. I.e efficient collection of taxes from those who can and should pay taxes and VAT, even when such has to increase. They must do so for the greater good of society. The true test of societal progress is to inspect leadership reforms and initiatives to see if they improve the socio-economic reality of the majority. I.e the average Nigerian. When, as with the tax reform bills, this is proven to be the case, I.e the common Nigerian is better off, why do you hateful dullards then move goalpost to make issues about wealthy multinational companies, like MTN etal, been made to pay more in their most profitable arenas of operations? Go and sit down Bro. You are ignorant and a loser. No progressive Nigerian has your mindset. It is clear hateful people like you wish to ignore the huge benefits of the tax reform bills of the current government, in favour of ordinary Nigerians, to focus on confused, ignorant and nebulous arguments you think hides your real agenda of ethnocentric hatred of the PBAT government. The tax reform bills, 100% proven, benefit average Nigerians immensely. They are the winners. Why then are folks like you obsessed with counter-argument that highlights your ignorance. It is clear you claim to be fighting for the Nigerian "common man" yet your talk shows you do not realize they are the winning beneficiary of the tax reform bills with the biggest losers being the big and very wealthy companies who have used corruption, unwieldy and serially-duplicated tax laws etal to rob Nigeria for many decades now. The way to see the Tinubu tax reform bills is as a 'clean-up' of unsavoury conducts, decades long and detrimental to the progress of Nigeria and mostly the "common man", that has ensured we are lagging behind in global best practices adherence. |
