Even the Small And Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) has said it will engage small businesses nationwide on the implications and opportunities of the proposed tax reform bills.

How does the tax bill which frees the poor from tax liability and which encourages production over entitlement - how is this harsh treatment? The VAT rate has been stepped back to 7.5% from 10%.

Suffice to say a common concept worldwide is the efficient collection of tax and VAT from those who must pay those. Especially wealthy and highly profitable entities who, if ethical and responsible, should have no problems being socio-economic development partners of the political leaders of a nation.

Of course government must raise more revenue for government through taxes. It is what some of the nations off the world, deemed the best to live in, are about.

The UK, for example, is virtually about taxes with such paying for the huge benefits Britons enjoy to include, comparatively, some of the best infrastructures in the world, free NHS healthcare, welfare benefit for the most deprived etc, etc.
