free2ryhme:Shut up! That project is rubbish. Connecting the entire country by rail has way more economic prospects and would possibly have cost half of the amount earmarked for this coastal road nonsense. |

iLoveYouToo:So if Obasanjo wasted $16bn we shouldn’t learn from him and do better. We should do the same because it’s our turn? Nobody is saying road is not good. The point is, the country cannot afford it now and they are other things to fix that can get us out of this situation before building roads. If security isn’t fixed the tourism you claim the road will bring will not work because tourist will be scared. If income level is not fixed there will be nobody to patronize the businesses on the highway. If production is not fixed there will be little goods to move on the highway. If poverty persists the highway will become a hotspot for kidnappers. If per capita income is not fixed nobody will have cars to use on the highway. Do you see the point or you guys just want a highway you can admire? |

emkz:Of course, it can only be targetted at dim witted congenital retards similar to you who see no problem with their leaders picking a misplaced priority and funding it illegally and without any iota of due process and awarding it to their crony - who is a convict in two countries, Mr. Chagouri, and a long time business partner of the president (oh, no conflict of interest!). Of course, someone like you can never distill the issues. . . With citizens like you, we will wander long in darkness. |

emkz:Gowon said so based on his level of understanding Building 3 refineries in the space of 5 years will be seen as ambitious by anyone especially for a country just coming out of colonialism How many of Nigeria's contemporaries then had a refinery to boast of We also kicked off Ajaokuta in the late 70s under same OBJ Lagos-Ibadan expressway as well as Ibadan to the north was also built in that period The construction of Abuja as FCT started in that period as well It's always easy to blame the past But a fair comparison will show that Nigeria's problem started in the mid-80s from Buhari who came in and started cancelling projects to IBB who introduced SAP The politicians who took over in 1999 have not fared better. Instead, they've been more pedestrian and transactional then revolutionary or visionary. |

Agbegbaorogboye:You forgot 3rd Mainland Bridge, the first LNG train, and universities. The last time I experienced pipe-borne water in my hometown supplied by government was during the military era. There can't be democracy before development in the Nigerian context. It is known that Nigeria thrived under military rule in terms of the investment in infrastructure than in this stomach-induced democratic experiment. I wish the military laid a proper foundation for democracy. |

Chucks13:.My brother, many of those praising those wicked souls were not even born when they were in government. Moreover, these corrupt politicians have successfully divided us along tribal and religious lines. They use the ‘divide and rule’ tactic on the gullible ones. Just imagine that wicked IBB, who ordered the killing of many school children during the 1993 election annulment protests (I witnessed it because I was in senior secondary school and even protested). He introduced hardship and gave it a deceptive name—'SAP'—and now he has written a useless book to manipulate some regions into siding with him ahead of 2027. Instead of people to collectively seek justice against him, it is painful to see some jubilating about the 1966 coup. Is that not a misplaced priority? |

emkz:It's good you have the decency to come around now instead of blaming the past for the present woes which are majorly inflicted by the present crop of leaders. News broke yesterday that Wike spends 6m per hr per head to get a host of TV stations to broadcast his rants to the populace. This is same Wike who has previously boasted of buying forms for all political office holders in his state I doubt that level of waste can be so brazenly carried out and brandished in our faces during the time of the military In other words, you cant blame the military for the behavior of politicians. Politicians told us their system is the best form of govt. They never put a caveat that it can be the best only if the military make it so Politicians always claim to have the answers. If the politicians want, even the constitution can be changed. They are simply a bunch of self- serving vultures. |

MakindeHassan:“If this is not fixed, If that is not fixed”. HOW DO YOU “fix” any of those problems without infrastructure? If you shy away from building infrastructure? It’s also DISHONEST to say we are spending huge money on this project, Last I checked Nigeria was paying under 25% and investors the rest, on a Build Operate Transfer arrangement. |

Tellmeastory:You do not fix these problems with infrastructure. If you like build beautiful infrastructure if the stomach infrastructure and brain infrastructure is low then it will be vandalized. It will take hours of lecture to tell you how but let me give you a snippet. Nigeria has one of the largest youth population in the world and that is our asset. The internet has made it possible to work from anywhere and earn money. Imagine if 20% of Nigerian youth were working remotely earning USD. Imagine what that will bring into our economy without oil. Even sports too. Invest in human capital development. Export talent. These talent will send money home and empower their siblings. There has never been a time in history with as much free flowing capital as now due to the global economy. There are investors with trillions of USD ready to invest in your country if your country is business friendly. They will build infrastructure for you, You don’t even need these IMF loans. Just work on policy and stop the myopic thinking/power loving. Have stable business friendly policies and humble yourself to talk to businesses and you will see FDI flow in. |

Obasanjo should go and sit down somewhere and enjoy his old age jejely. Obj just like hitting polity....this is a man that have seen President two different times within two months more than any big politician can see Mr president. Why can't obj tell Tinubu all these he's saying here.. Birds of the same feather. |

chopnaira:Bros. It's still wrong. 30% of 15 trillion = 4.5 trillion. So why and how will a government pledge that amount of money without undergoing due process? It's only in Nigeria you will hear such. In advance nations, what Tinubu did is an impeachable offense and legal prosecution follows immediately. Nigeria is not behaving like a country. |

A a Iyabo doesn't have any major project to his name. Otta road was a death trap when he was president. He was busy using helicopter to get to his own house while he was president. He left the regular folks to suffer. Such person has no right to tell us what is wasteful and what is not. The same old hag spent 16 Billion on electricity with nothing to show for it. Baba Iyabo has no respect in his own family, even his kids sees him as a pompous loud mouth hypocrite. |
