El rufai being smart as he is has seen this long ago but waited until the hunger resonates among the northern masses to strike.
In my humble opinion, he isn't agrieved with that ministerial job Fgs he has been a minister and a Gov, instead he sees an opportunity far ahead - 2031 beyond...the time for the Northern presidency.
Perhaps he worked so well for tinubu in 2023, Tinubu to some extent was impressed but confused at the same time...why would El rufai all of a sudden fight so hard for him? as such never trusted El rufai, the rest that happened is history.
El rufai's plans to become a kingmaker in north seemingly passing away slowly with Tinubu not giving him recognition. His relevance simply going into oblivion.
He lost his patience waiting on Tinubu's reward for his fight 2023.

He knows tinubu's game and has outlined a counter attack at it quite well...
Since Tinubu wants to cripple opposition and distract them with so much noise, keeping them endlessly working on trivial matters until election day...why not turn the table around?
But how can he do that while in Apc... impossible.

"When you corner a rat, it will fight back". The so-called master strategist should have known this. They pushed Elrufai until he had his back to the wall and left him no room to wriggle. What did they expect him to do? Even in terms of optics, Tinubu has lost the moral high ground because all Nigerians saw how hard Elrufai worked for his election. There is also a public video of Tinubu begging Elrufai in Kaduna to stay behind and work with him. That alone screams betrayal and Northerners do not take betrayals lightly.

It's because of the concept of "Trust" (Amana) that made many Northerners go against Buhari’s body language to support Tinubu in the first place. Northerners take pride in keeping their word no matter what. Why then would Tinubu break that trust? He gambled. Elrufai was never a direct threat to Tinubu. At best, his competitors were other Northerners like Ribadu. If Tinubu wanted to take his pound of flesh from Elrufai, he should have waited until his second tenure was secured. That's what a smart politician would have done.

You just said nonsense. Which know political forces left Apc with him. Babachair Lawal that has not win is local government to any party he support. Ameachi is no longer relevant in Apc, Wike is there to checkmate him anytime. What influence do some former ministers under Buhari have. If you think the north will support Obi presidency then you are really not politically sound. El rufai will prefer Ameachi to Obi cos they see igbos has not stable. Where will Atiku features. 2014 can't be replicated again. Which serving governors and senators will decamped to SDP from Apc. We have seen many and house of rep members leaving pdp and labour to Apc. Time wasting on their side. Tinubu is not Jonathan.
