Former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai has declared that he never betrayed Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, ex-presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, ThisDay Nigeria reports.

El-Rufai made the remark while praying that opposition leaders like Atiku, Peter Obi of the Labour Party, Rivers ex-governor Rotimi Amaechi, and Rauf Aregbesola should join the Social Democratic Party, SDP.

The former governor who recently dumped the All Progressives Congress, APC, for SDP, disclosed this while speaking with BBC Hausa Service.

El-Rufai said: “What pains me is that the government we supported and had confidence in would do well, because we saw what Tinubu did in Lagos despite his challenges.

“We all know about his issues in Chicago, but we thought if he could replicate his work in Lagos for Nigeria, let’s support him. However, he failed.

“I never betrayed Atiku Abubakar because we didn’t meet in politics; we met at work. In work, if I see that he didn’t do well, whoever he is, I will tell him. I told Buhari, and I even took Buhari to court on the new naira issue.

“When Obasanjo and Atiku were having issues, those of us working with Obasanjo looked at the issues between them and said Obasanjo was more right.

“It was not about north and south; Obasanjo was right. Atiku and I are now together, and if I betrayed him why are we together now.

“What I want and pray for is for all opposition leaders— Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Rotimi Amaechi, and Rauf Aregbesola— to join the SDP.”

Who would have imagined a day like would come? El Rufai’s quest for a formidable opposition would be great if his intention is genuine and altruistic, but he seems like a frustrated politician who couldn’t have his way and have desperately began to court even those he fought with in the past in a bid to reclaim his lost ego and pride. Well, politicians and their ways are past finding out, so wouldn’t be surprised at the realignment we may see in the coming days.

El-Rufai is being too emotional and he will make mistakes.
Ameachi has lost the grip on Rivers state, Ogbeni Rauf has lost grip of Osun, even Alimosho is now slipping off his fingers.

He is letting his emotions get the best of him.
He is smarter than this.

Except this is another strategy for Jagaban to further break the votes in the North because with this Atiku will be struggling with Kwankwanso, El-Rufai and Jagaban, Peter no dey this ballot for north at all.

And with the way it's going SDP can't even win Kaduna state, Southern Kaduna will not be giving him any votes looking at what Jagaban is doing for them right now and the current governor will likely get the rest of the votes for APC. Sani is also back in APC.

Peter Obi will be the most foolish man to join El rufai. Whatever they do, if they ever get Obi to join forces with them, they will pretend to have a free and fair primary, then they will chop him short-cut when it is too late, then they will show him off as a failure and laugh.

If Obi is wise, let him remain where he is, or leave all parties and run solo, anyone who wants to be with him should fall under his trail. If he doesn't do exactly this, he will lose all credibility. Peter Obi is the most organically prized politician in Nigeria today. But if he goes for any party primaries, unless the voters therein is the Nigerian masses, he will lose. For the Nigerian primaries system of election, it is a matter of the highest bidder.
