Long overdue, when their roles are enshrined in the constitution, they could be held accountable for it and even sued to court if they failed in their responsibilities. |

Why not let them be? The government have long polarised and bastardised the traditional institution. All these shenanigans is just a shadow of itself. The emirship tussle in Kano is a classical case. |

Constitutional responsibility is good if used positively but when used with selfish motives, then it will destroy the community. |

It's long overdue. Please and please, with specific emphasis on the traditional rulers from Ogun state and their ilks, there should be clauses that gives traditional rulers a role in educating their subjects that human body parts can never translate to money. Since they are custodians of traditions, they should explain where their subjects got the culture of pounding human parts with 🌿 herbs and bark of trees in a bid to create wealth. This is preposterous. Ogun state is casting Nigeria in a very dark light. |

Something that ought to be scrapped! How many traditional rulers are in Europe where everyone is running to? Many of them were productive in foreign countries collecting wages per hour/week for work done until they were called back home to come and start collecting salary from government for marrying many wives. |

Who will pay them, and what exactly will their roles be? We have local government chairmen and ward councillors, traditional institutions should remain at the level of preserving culture and tradition. The place of a traditional ruler who sits in a palace and is fanned from morning to night no longer holds relevance in a modern society. |

It is pertinent for their roles to be enshrined in the constitution as least for their obligations and responsibilities as well as boundaries. |

zero8zero:Nigerian leadership has refused to be creative and smart in dealing with rising crises in the society! Traditional leaders what? People that most of the times are the most compromised people, talk for hours and get nothing done! People who worry more about status and even though live within communities are very far from the people! I don’t know if you guys feel this will address the security concerns everywhere! Give the people license to carry guns! People just need to defend the selves |

![]() It a welcome development. Though, criminal politicians like Wike will still override the traditional rulers in their roles and responsibilities. And then, the terrorist Islamic traditional rulers in the north will use this opportunity to implement Sharia law in every possible way they could and force the christians elites to abide in it. It's a two way thing depending on how they uses it |
