Commentor:Oga stop analysing what you don't understand. Let me explain it like your four years old, as I am sure you suffer from a faulty Wesleyan education like most Nigerians. Nigeria - external debt $43 billion - federal reserve $40 billion - richest man in Nigeria $25 billion USA - external debt $10 trillion - federal reserve $200 trillion - richest man in USA $244 billion 1. At 10 trillion in debt, the USG is economically assuming in defcon 3. 2. If Nigeria was a company, and you a bank manager, would you give her a loan or send her to AMCON. Una go dey talk rubbish for complex issues in Political economy. Even Baba Jidda, no go sell person cigar if e get the kain nos my dear country has. Shamless regime. |

UncleJJ:You are still writing rubbish. The simple question you should have answered would have been, what's the maximum our debt must be. What's the stupid relevance about telling us who the richest man is. So, if I invent a product that the whole world embraces, for instance, it becomes my burden or the nation's, in fact, if the country is poor? |

Commentor:remove the richest man point he made. he didnt write rubbish, It is very sensible to compare a country's indebtedness to the federal reserves they hold. the relationship between the two determines the ability to sustain debt, low reserves-to-external-debt ratio like the case of nigeria diminishes investor confidence increasing borrowing cost in future, weakens exchange rate stability, makes the country vulnerable to financial shocks, reduces inflow of investment and ultimately stiffles economic growth. -if u be investor too and nigeria comes to u to borrow money with financials showing more indebtedness compared to external reserves, you will want to recoup as much as possible of your investment before ur borrower goes under, and this means unfavourable terms and economic burden for ur borrower. To answer your question about what Nigeria's external debt should be, in relation to the federal reserves, the lower the debt the better. |
