One of my favourite foreign radio stations as a kid is being gutted.
I really loved listening to voice of America radio station with programmes like billboard top twenty on Thursday where I am able to know the top 20 songs in America every week and also its sports programmes too with my small transistor radio as a kid which I bought for like 800 naira to 1,000 naira in those days from Northerners selling it .
When I asked for the price of transistor radio now the price I was being told was in thousands to show how bad our economy has become.
Voice of America was a good memory to me

Going online require data and you know how expensive it is to buy data .
I think voice of America Hausa did exist too so how do they expect people in interior villages to buy data to go online.
America is now ceding the airspace to China to take over.

LOL you're a funny guy, you are trying to gaslight the Americans using China as if they care, the world has moved pass the analogue era, if you can't afford data to listen to radio online that should be on your government and not America, also about China, hope you'll learn Chinese when they bring Radio China for your transistor radio?

Even the VON (Voice of Nigeria) should be scrapped..... A very useless and non functioning organisation.......

The Chinese have news in English language for Africans and they will use propaganda to push their ideas to interior villages for villagers who are still in analogue and can't afford to buy data for online streaming.

VON and NTA have always been backward from time immemorial.
Picture and radio quality from those station are mediocre.

Fair point, Guobe, but let’s be real, times are changing, and while the wider audience might not use data now, the shift to digital is unstoppable, so maybe America’s just betting on the long game instead of competing with transistor mindsets.

VoA will transmit on shortwave and AM Radio but as I grew older, I grew out of its propaganda. I hope one day, BBC and France 24/RFI will also go like this for our own good.

Their programming was more organized and educational than Nigerian stations that was mostly music. One even had the more music, less talk as its signature

Afraid of causing more damages to their ozone layer , they shipped almost all their manufacturing to China , Japan and India
Then turn around to accuse those developing nations of being the highest polluters ....and I refusing to acknowledge their own roles in using the industrial revolution to destroy the earths ozone layer because they don't want to pay compensation to the countries worst affected by global warming and climate changes.

Those people have families to feed. Stop this uncontrolled firing of federal workers, they are NOT criminals.
Not everybody is a billionaire.

Good news if true. All these old media forms should meet the new age or fall by the wayside. Our newspaper houses are feeling the heat and don’t know how to restructure. I was surprised to read The Washington Post and realize their word count drastically reduced over the years. Nigerian dailies are still typing theses in these days of Twitter feeds dropping concise information.
