I guess federal contractors are doing government a favor, no? Is the infrastructure free? Have you seen the terms of the loan? You’re part of the culture of deception I referenced in my original post.
Tell me how any USA aid has benefited anyone in your family and I'll tell you how Chinese-built infrastructure has benefited yours.

China does forgive Debt. Hey its 2025, information is everywhere, dont debate something you dont have the facts on.
I see your intent is to pick and choose what you respond to but are you able to answer why the amount is unspecified? Could it be a few millions? Or could it be in exchange for access to Zimbabwe’s lithium which it now controls? As for the IMF, there’s a program dedicated to debt relief(see below link). Even Nigeria has benefited from debt cancellations and grants. Now check what happened when the discussion was on to forgive African debts after Covid — only China refused cancellation, insisting on extension. Now answer me, why should Africa not pay its debt? Does that show responsibility? Or an inability to stick to contracts like individuals in its society? You say western aid does not reach the grassroots — please speak to northern Nigeria rural health workers who had their checks stopped until the federal government released billions in emergency funds to replace. Without the IMF and World Bank borrowing Nigeria cash(which China almost never does), under Buhari, Nigeria would have never been able to pay government salaries without a massive surge in money printing. Again, for every Chinese debt forgiveness you(not the fake Zimbabwe kind to gain access to vital resources), I’ll find you 10 western ones.

Funny how you have gone from First of, China never forgives debt — they only extend payment period. Please check.

And i checked, and i also came back with proof. But you still are responding with further speculations with Zero evidence to support your claims.

Could it be, would it be, had it been ?
Dont write what you cannot substantiate.
Your first statement to me was "China never forgives debt" Thats a 100% Lie.

Did you come back with proof for your IMF assertion in the same paragraph? By the way, this Zimbabwe no amount talk less of condition is no proof to me. If I collect mining rights for canceling a few millions is that cancellation? Again provide proofs for your IMF assertion or is it only one way?

“ which the IMF rarely does.” are you a liar since the IMF forgives more loans than China with published amounts? You have not responded to multiple questions I’ve raised, instead you try to find gotchas. Back to your original assertion on investments, is China and America investing in each others nations because of friendship or returns? China invest more in single American states than Africa. Nobody wants to invest in unstable regions but to get resources. Without the West, all African nations will be like Congo right now.

You mean if it’s not a road or train it cannot be substantiated? Ask yourself (no response required) why does the Nigeria need to release approximately 300 billion naira to replace something without substance? That’s why I asked if you go to school at all because you should have taken algebra and learnt some logic.

Money provided to support health infrastructure is serious substance, but you’d have to be informed to understand this so I catch your drift. When you’re sick and go to a federal hospital with even less than there is now you’d understand your substance in pain.

Per practice, you missed the following in the article, all countering your claim of forgiving china, who, without starting any project in Ogun state is seizing planes:

But more recently, Bvumbe said there has not been any debt cancellation from China. “I checked with the embassy when it was reported,” he said. “They didn’t say anything about debt cancellation.”

China is always reluctant to accept a cut in debt it is owed, but is amenable to suspensions of interest and principal repayments,” Robertson said. It is a sentiment echoed by sub-Saharan geoeconomic analyst Aly-Khan Satchu. “China will surely be supportive but is not in the business of haircuts and cancellations,” Satchu said.

It’s striking how narratives are shaped by perception, not by actions. While China is building roads and universities, and Saudi Arabia is extending investment lifelines across the continent, the U.S. is busy cutting health aid, branding nations as “security risks,” and tightening visa policies. Yet some still cling to the myth that the West is Africa’s greatest ally. True friendship shows in investment, respect, and mutual progress—not in sanctions, suspicion, or charity laced with conditions. The world is shifting, and Africa sees clearly now who builds bridges—and who builds barriers.
Only ignorant people fall for that, China has been closer to africa than anyone else.

Asonaijaaso:
You’re half-right—but only halfway educated on the subject. Yes, China isn’t giving out aid for hugs and friendship, and yes, the West isn’t obligated to burn money. But here’s where your logic collapses: you conflate trade, aid, and diplomacy like they’re the same currency. They’re not.

Let’s break this down:
• China’s annual aid to Africa is around $3–5 billion (not counting infrastructure loans and commercial investments, which are way larger). But they also forgive debts, build hospitals, and cancel interest, which the IMF rarely does.
• The U.S. gives more humanitarian aid, but much of it is tied to conditions, funneled through U.S.-based NGOs, and rarely reaches the intended grassroots. It’s charity with strings, not partnership.
• When you say “China invests more in America than Africa”—congrats, you just described capitalism. But don’t confuse where money goes with why it goes there. Africa is a frontier market, not yet saturated. China sees long-term resource security, soft power, and influence, not just ROI.
• As for “culture of lies”—it’s rich to say that from a global stage where Wall Street sold fake bonds, Big Pharma suppressed data, and politicians lied nations into war. Every region has its demons; Africa is not uniquely dishonest—it’s uniquely scapegoated.
• The West didn’t just throw money away. It used that aid to install allies, influence politics, control trade flows, and protect corporate interests. That’s not generosity—it’s geopolitical chess.
Re: Senate Announces China Development Bank As New Financier Of Kano-Kaduna Rail by Truthcat: 2:23pm On Mar 16, 2025
Every loan is attached to a project and it's the infrastructure that will be seized if there's a default. Anything outside that na slush funds. The whole world knows that Nigeria is very corrupt, so the lender has to prove that the money actually made it to Nigeria and not given to the politicians.

I understand that you may not have enough knowledge to fully grasp economics and leveraging. It takes time and a certain level of education, so let me help a little.

A country like Nigeria cannot fund infrastructure development solely from its internal resources—it’s simply not feasible because the country doesn’t generate enough revenue to cover such large-scale projects. Nigeria's infrastructure development needs are estimated at around $3 trillion. Meanwhile, Nigeria’s projected total revenue for last year was approximately $25 billion, and considering that the country ran a deficit last year (spending more than it earned), saving to build infrastructure is just unrealistic.

To increase revenue, Nigeria needs to improve its productivity, which is not possible without essential infrastructure like power, water, and transportation. So, where will Nigeria get the funds and expertise to achieve this? From external sources. The key is to prioritize infrastructure projects that will have a high impact on the economy and the well-being of the people, while securing favourable loan terms without over-leveraging to ensure the debt can be repaid as agreed.

This is a common strategy used by both governments and private companies. For example, Dangote didn’t use his own money to build his refinery because he doesn't have it. Instead, he secured some loans using the refinery as collateral and plans to pay them off over the next few years as production ramps up. This is how strategic financing works for both governments and businesses.

You can thank me.

My apologies. Good luck, sir

I can now see that Nigeria’s problem goes beyond revenue—it’s a crisis of intellectual capacity and critical thinking among its youth. I once wondered whether this stemmed from an IQ issue among Black people or a failure of proper education in critical thinking. However, after interacting with other Africans, especially from the East, it’s clear that the real problem lies in the lack of proper education in developing critical thinking skills in Nigeria.
