The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nigeria has made a formal disclaimer, debunking a fraudulent recruitment scheme currently making the rounds online. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned the general public to ignore the fake job recruitment which falsely claims to be approved and honoured by the Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs. The statement, titled “MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS DISCLAIMS FAKE RECRUITMENT EXERCISE,” was published by the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa. It notified the general public to a false recruitment notice being distributed across online platforms and other media, purporting to invite applications for employment within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. “The ministry unequivocally disassociates itself from this misleading and malicious advertisement and urges the general public to disregard such announcements and refrain from engaging with individuals or entities promoting these fraudulent schemes,” the press statement partly reads. To clarify, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed that all recruitment into the Nigerian Foreign Service is conducted only by the Federal Civil Service Commission FCSC. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs does not initiate or conduct recruitment. “Members of the public are, therefore, strongly advised to remain cautious and not to fall victim to such fraudulent schemes,” the press release further added. The Ministry for Foreign Affairs stressed its dedication to transparency, integrity, and public accountability in all operational matters. The Ministry for Foreign Affairs also called on Nigerians to remain vigilant and observant to avoid falling prey to fake job recruitment schemes. Conversely, recently, the Federal Civil Service Commission FCSC extended the deadline for submission of applications for available positions within the Federal Civil Service Commission. Previously scheduled to close on the 10th of March 2025, but was shifted to 17th March 2025.
