They can bar her from heading committees or represent the senate but no one reserves the right to take away her senator status except her constituents through a recall which we all know is a long shot. She has every right to be in that National Assembly represent the people and proposing bills in the interest of her people and the country at large. I don't understand this godfather mentality that we are allowing to permeate our sacred institutions and at the rate at which it is going, I hope we don't get to the point of no return soon.

None the less, Senator Natasha moved to fast by involving the international community. She should have attended and kept her peace while letting the courts do their job back home. Obviously, she doesn't have good staffs and advisers around her. She should have just pursued the case in court and let her lawyers do their job while doing her thing as Senator Natasha on the low key...

It was an IPU Side event at the 69th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women(CSW).

Senator Akpoti claimed she attended the event on her personal expense and registered as an individual. Her illegal suspension not withstanding, she remains an elected Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The order that she should not identify as Senator locally and internationally during the suspension is ludicrous, unconstitutional and has not legal basis. She was elected by her constituency and owes her Senatorship to them and not the Senate.

She accompanied the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, to the 148th IPU General Assembly in Geneva, Switzerland in March, 2024 as part of Nigeria’s official delegation. She sat beside the Senate President. That is why I said if it were me, I would have been as guilty as pronounced. By reason of that attendance she is on the mailing list and an active Nigeria's contact person at the IPU because the SP would have assigned that role to her. She used that opportunity to register for the IPU as Nigeria's delegate without being sent by the National Assembly.

I decided to be neutral on this matter because, while I admire her courage and boldness, and no doubt she is a force to reckon with, I'm also very sceptical about her character and integrity. After the greatest mistake that Buhari turned out to be, I stopped supporting or denouncing political figures out of mere sentiments. I'm now very impartial in my judgement, and based on some of the facts coming out, I'm beginning to wonder if this woman is not a drama queen with elements of shadiness. According to Reno, she has deliberately accused him falsely in the past (and we know that he always talks with receipts), and he was saved when he provided evidence to counter her claims. The deputy chief whip of the Senate came out on Channels News to bring an entire new angle to the rogbodiyan, alleging that she was making a ruckus about seating arrangements because she wanted to remain where the camera will capture her to the fullest. Apparently the current seat is very strategic in camera placement. The seating rearrangement did not affect her alone, and while others moved, she refused to move.
