FBIBOT:Lol. It's easy. The guy was right. If you move to America or Europe, don't waste your time, learn a high in demand skill ASAP. My experience. Moved to US, learnt a skill HVAC, my second year in America, just my second year, I grossed over $100k..... this year, I am aiming at $150k to $200k Not capping, or bragging. But it's doable. The truth is, if you are a cat, don't think you will come to Western world and turn into a lion. But if you are a lion in nigeria, Western world will bring out the beast in you, making you that king of the jungle. See attached see wetin HVAC techs dey earn, na Indeed ooo

fullclub:You have a mindset of mediocrity. No offence. I have seen people who failed the driving test multiple times and those who passed on first attempt (even without driving in Nigeria). Taking away exceptions, the overriding difference between both groups was their mindset. Those who approached the exam believing it to be hard kept failing. Those who saw the simplicity in it passed. Any route you'd take on your test date would be one you have driven multiplen times with your instructor. There is no catch, you know what they'd ask, answer and go. Its so easy an exam but folks approach it believing they've failed even before taking it and have anxiety wreck them. BTW, I passed both the theory and practical on first attempt. Its an easy test |

@IbeOkehie You tend to "share" posts these days rather than comment. I am curious, why? |

AfahaAbia:The problem is that the people that make these post are on student visa with limited work hours. They have neither gotten papers for unltd work nor stayed long enough to understand how it works. But rather than focus on their hustle, they litter the internet with their inadequate info. If nigerians on unltd/work visa/PR/citizens post pay cheque for you, you will know you are wasting away your youth in nigeria honestly. The day I travelled to go see my bro in yankee and analyzed his pay cheque was the day I quit my banking job. It was not easy initially but with time e go balance. What is 30 million naira? Guys are saving at least $2k per month from one job (no side hustle included oo) |

fullclub:I like your summation in the initial post. But if you ask me, earning a minimum wage is a matter of choice. If in the same economy there are people earning £40+ per hour, then as individuals, trying to reach this level of earnings should be everyone's goal, but the reality is most of us quickly believe we're not good enough to learn this new trades/skills, but trust me, if the human brain has so much cells that we cannot use it to capacity till we die, we can achieve far more than we could think. |

Hmmm after much analysis and trying to understand your situation, I see that after spending 30m to japa, you could only save less than 200 pounds monthly (400k)which is more like peanuts in Nigeria now. Gracefully your wife is working to save more 500 pounds to help keep up your other expenses etc. I see you didn’t include entertainment in all that you listed like taking the kids out, shopping cloths etc. car payment etc. if you included all that I’m sure you’ll bearly have something to save including your wife working. Don’t forget you’ve spent (invested) 30m before leaving Nigeria. How long will it take you to save back this 30m working in the UK now after bills? Do you feel 30m you had let’s say last year will remain the same if you had invested it in Nigeria? |

Some people condemn this kind thread.....see them as discouragement ...when in fact it is one that can help someone to be better prepared for migration. Many have made the decision to japa ... considered their present position.. qualifications and experience and figured out as a Bank Manager with 10 years experience he can no doubt get into the banking system and will accept a supervisor position for starters ... checked out the salary for the position and even did some budgeting ...expenses based on typical Nigerian expenses. If he travels based on this ...he is likely to find himself in hot water hen he gets there when things don't go according to plan. If he reads a thread like this ...he can learn that there are a lot of other expenses that he didn't consider and how much they bite out of the salary. The thread is not trying to convince anyone to stay or go ... but making us aware of some basic expenses and the extent to which they reduce the salary. We can take it...or ignore it . A friend of mine got visa and was super anxious to travel. I advised him not to rush to travel because of the cold ...winter...wait until late Spring or better ...summer. ..that winter requires appropriate clothing which is not cheap and can't be used on his return. He said he loves the cold ... used to A/C. His choice...he travelled. Spent a month locked in where he was staying ...watching TV and looking through the window. ....he didn't expect it to be so cold. If you fail to prepare ...prepare to fail. |

SocialJustice:You and @Atk1nson have tried to clear the OP . He is obviously on a mission to misinform or too arrogant to learn. He is using is second year in the UK to decide if UK is better than Nigeria, like just year 2 He works minimum wage for minimum hours possible ,enjoys luxurious recurring expenses all in the name of "quality of life" . He needs to calm down ,meet people and learn how Dem dey do am. Another obvious thing here is no mention of future plan, he is doing care job and sounds like he want to continue it for life. While I am sure no reasonable person with 30M naira will based their Japa or no Japa decision on OP analysis. I pity the few that will believe he is giving the general picture of things. |

SmallmebigGod:OP is in a right spot for now but definitely not forever. He has family and a nursing wife. That's the reason for his high expense. When his wife starts working and adding to the budget, life will improve a lot. |

fullclub:Give me 5 billion naira I will still japa. Nigeria will erode your capital to zero and poor living conditions that even the rich can't escape but I will visit monthly at least. Our economy has no credit and is lawless too, one big man from nowhere or government policy can reduce you to ashes. Mortgage is not bad, the mistake people do is living in the first house they buy. It should be rented out to generate good money and pay off itself but people do not know. Also with 50 million in the UK, I can access up to 500 million without knowing anybody. The longer I stay and build a reputation, that 50m can get me 1 billion in credit to buy real estate or a business. This will never happen in Nigeria. Credit is the reason no amount of money will make me stay here, because I have access to leverage elsewhere without joining ogboni or some cult to know people that will connect me. |

AfahaAbia:You must export something Either you export your body to work Or export your mind to work Nigeria has several million if people earning below 40 pounds a month At the same time We still have people earning 3000 pounds a month's without any tax though we get taxed on some other ways The citizenry are not just value oriented enough Millions doing nothing daily but praying for the magic moment |

Gerrard59:That's not true. My own blood sister was a manager in first bank before she japa to Canada. Why did she japa? Because she see that as an achievement. She had everything here already but as per na japa dey reign now. Her saving grace is that her husband has plenty businesses and investments that are flourishing here. People are just brainwashed! |
