Tuwo shinkafa is not as popular in the south as it should be.

I have never tasted Amala,gbekiri etc because it looks irritating and it is believed to be prepared with public toilet broom.my ex a Yoruba girl after eating it always mess loudly that's why I hated it more.
One day I go,close eye taste am shall to see if it is really sweet or just the usual Ibadan propaganda.

Had amala last week for the first time in about 10 years.

3 days later, I asked if my host could make it again.

Host was shocked...when did you start eating amala, she asked

I told her I noticed that first day, I didn't feel heavy, bloated and wanting to doze off ( ) like when I eat pounded yam.

Turned out to be true. When she made it the 2nd time, after eating we went out, went shopping, talked,laughed etc Basically, I was myself. However, if I eat pounded yam, I dey dey heavy, miserable, tired, and not interested in anything. Na to just look where to sleep

Seems amala wins!

I have eaten Amala and ewedu all my life but not the yoruba own , but the one owned by Tiv people from benue, they call it luam Nayan{amala} sha atyevê{ewedu} their ewedu is prepared different they don't put beans water Gbegiri like the yoruba's do

The main fundamental issue is this.. Yoruba see politics as a sport while Igbo see it as fundamental part of life that should not be toyed with... That's the issue

You dey mind them. Offline they are best of friends. I was at a restaurant last week and a Bus came and dropped about 40 people Men and women to eat at the popular Amala joint in Ibadan. It was obvious they were from the East or maybe Lagos as they were speaking english and it was obvious they were not yorubas

All of them ordered for Amala and Ogunfe. Except one that requested for I think semo. I was watching them as I eat mine.

It is only online they fight. Offline they are best of friends. They have the highest number or inter tribal marriages in Nigeria. Yorubas and Igbos. They do businesses together. They have never had a case of riot against themselves.

Yet,online, politicians used their brains and they didnt know that they are being used by politicians

You are 100% correct.

Amala is a lighter version of swallow, with a more sophisticated taste and texture than pounded yam.

Also amazing, and seriously underrated is LAFUN (white amala). It’s apparently Prof. Wole Soyinka’s favourite.

I wish we can have one giant national restaurant or national food hall where they sell EVERY single dish and soup from all over Nigeria’s 36 states. Every state will have its section in the complex.

Imagine a setup with HUNDREDS of different soups from all over the country, including remotest riverine seafood soups from Akwa Ibom to exotic village soups from Plateau state!

It will attract thousands of people from all over the world, not just Nigeria.

Most Nigerian traditional dishes just like other African dishes ,have aquired taste people might not enjoy it at first until they eat it repeatedly to aquire the taste, some might still not enjoy it after trying it repeatedly , truth is most African foods were discovered through necessity for survival and to reduce hunger , not really for food luxury taste, I spent most of my teenage years in plateau state there is this local dish called Gwote I tried this particular dish for many years and still I never aquired the taste it's one of the best dishes loved by locals in plateau state especially the birom people
