Following her post, she claimed that the NYSC board threatened her, citing that she violated the scheme's by-laws and ordered her to take down the post. The alleged intimidation has since sparked massive public reactions, with many Nigerians—including top politicians—defending her right to free speech.

Now, the emergence of the kneeling corper’s photo has further fueled the debate, with critics arguing that NYSC is being used as a tool of oppression rather than national service. Social media users have expressed their anger, saying:

Don’t blame the woman, blame the boy. Why should a grown adult who has finished school be kneeling down? If you ask me, the boy is not okay.

I remember my service year when one of them was trying to intimidate me, I use the NYSC law against him and embarrassed him, one of the state coordinator had to call him to order.
