The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has re-arrested popular TikTok influencer, Murja Ibrahim Kunya, for allegedly abusing and mutilating the Naira.

Murja was initially arrested in January 2025 for allegedly spraying Naira notes at social gatherings, violating the CBN Act. She was granted administrative bail but later absconded, failing to appear in court.

After weeks of surveillance, EFCC operatives apprehended her on Sunday, March 16, 2025, at Tahir Guest Palace, Kano. She is currently in custody and awaiting arraignment at the Federal High Court, Kano.

This arrest is part of EFCC’s intensified crackdown on influencers and individuals violating Nigeria’s financial laws. Other TikTok stars, including Al’amin G-Fresh and Ashir Idris, have also been arrested recently.

Murja’s case has sparked mixed reactions on social media—while some support the move, others see it as a targeted crackdown on influencers.
