Gerrard59:Intent matters. Many individuals who pursue degrees abroad are more interested in the opportunity to travel rather than the actual field of study. For them, staying in the UK is the priority, not necessarily securing a job in their specialized industry. That’s why they are willing to settle for any job, including care roles, just to remain in the country rather than returning to Nigeria to seek relevant opportunities. Those that return already knew they were not interested in settling in the UK. |

Atk1nson:People can be comfortable with the bare minimum and I see nothing wrong with that. Everyone’s circumstances and priorities are different. At the end of the day, what matters is personal fulfillment and making choices that align with one’s goals and situation. You can also create a thread and share your ambitious history. |

tunapawizzy:It's funny how you're analyzing his income and savings instead of you to develop yourself. Developing valuable skills isn’t as simple as it sounds. It takes time, effort, and access to the right opportunities. I was one of the first Nigerians to obtain a certification that gave me many opportunities years ago but today that same certification is taking you nowhere. You also need to understand that not everyone has the same learning curve or resources to develop themselves. I'm of the school of though that if you're good, you're good. Nigeria has it's challenges but it's not responsible for the excuses that people ascribe to it. |

fullclub:When i said Austria and Germany i knew what i was talking about ( I`v been Austrian citizen for almost 3 decades), i am talking from experience not assumption and the core of my initial writeup is being able to settle in within a maximum of 4 months without any pressure after relocation on a student visa to either of the 2 listed countries. Nothing sensational about Germany`s block account , you won`t even need to take a penny out of it because you will surely have settled in with your initial 8M naira budget and be earning enough on your 20hrs/week student job. Added to that the 12k euros will just be wasted in paying tuition fee for one mushroom school in the UK. I would`nt say Spain, Portugal or Italy because i never lived there before and don`t know the reality of the place, i only say what i am 100% sure of. |

Nazgul:If they really want you they will sponsor you. There are many Nigerians who work remotely for foreign companies. It's very easy to be in Nigeria say you'll get 10 jobs except you're in a high-demand field. |
| Re: Japa With ₦30M? Think Twice – A Realistic Breakdown Of Life Abroad by studyless123: 3:57am On Mar 18, 2025 |
Nazgul:It's good to have the right mindset but the truth is if you're good enough for any company, they'll sponsor you or create a job for you. The US has the best talents in the world and that makes it more competitive than any other country. RTO is also making it difficult to do multiple jobs. |

erico2k2:There are many areas and specialities in nursing just as in medicine, but it is not a lucrative career. For citizens from developing countries who work in developed countries, I can understand why. But head to head between developed countries, nursing is not universally a lucrative career. In the US? Yes. In most other countries? No. |

studyless123:Bro, Nigeria doesn't fall into countries the US considers as potential hubs for sourcing out professionals. However countries like China, India and most professionals in western Europe fall into this category. If you carry out a study you'd discover that less than 15% of Nigerians have actually benefitted from this scheme. Reason being that our education system isn't amongst the top rated worldwide. So telling a Nigerian living in Nigeria to keep applying that if he's good enough an American company would sponsor his trip over there to work is not a realistic objective. The best is to move over there, complete your Msc, and get a good job. |

studyless123:You are either an alternate account of the op, or you struggle with comprehension. The guy could have clearly stated that he lacked ambition which is why he has no driving licence and lives on the bare minimum rather than suggesting its the norm. For all I care, he can quit work and live in food banks where he stays, but he should be clear on why. |

Atk1nson:Bro it’s clear that you don’t understand where this man is coming from , the reason why you Dey throw banta. If you have been to the Uk you will realize 10-15gb is nothing. Absolutely nothing na naija we Dey value data. Here data na water of course you connect in train station and bus . bt what if technical glitch occur or it’s not available on that particular bus you entered. He be like say you never lost before if not you will never step outside your home without having data on your phone. The man is making sense. I use Three network £12 unlimited monthly. and for my wife same , my home broadband is £22 monthly too making =£46 monthly na so we Dey pay am. Why you go Dey even think of 10gb for uk when unlimited is as cheap as it shoud be. Also concerning the minimum wage im sure op can up his game and look for another job that pays higher. It’s much easier to save if your job pays higher even if na 40hrs you do you can still save like £1k convinientlt after your expenses and hmrc. Those work Dey yapa. |

Atk1nson:O why are you throwing personal attacks on the opp? Why diverting from what he stated. I have gone through the receipt he posted and are as follows: Water bill 43 pounds. House rent 700 pounds Phone bill 50+ Council tax 120 abi 100 And others. Are u saying he is lying about this? He also postrd his salary. Are u saying he is lying? U are diverting from main issue. I will like u to also do your own. How much u earn and saved. Is it a must to have driver's license before u make it? Its all a learning platform not kill our selves |

FBIBOT:Job flows like river You can change jobs like crazy 🤪. I did. Every month for 3 months until I got what I wanted The truth is, in Nigeria, the work ethics are terrible, the orientation is awful so when they move abroad, it affects them badly. And when they have no option other than doing things the right way, it pisses them off. Lol |

studyless123:The fact is that the person here is using his unpreparedness to face life outside Nigeria to advise others. He's discouraging others from leaving because of his own personal failings. Months from now, he'll come back to open another thread and begin to wail again. Nobody should take him seriously. |

samuelson06:Who discourage u? Did i complain that i don't have a job? I am full time working anf footing my bills. I am sharing insights on how the system drains all you have. Once u earn within 2000 before tax and below then you will struggle with bills except you decide to leave a frugal lifestyle. Driver's license don't stop u from getting a job people make use of public transport here.. White and black. Beside this page is to document my journey wgich i embark. Each 6 months i will evaluate and open new page here. The last one was about my graduation. Then this is about work lifestyle and savings. Be prepared to see more of this and i wont add sugar. My next thread will be in December then i will sum all i could saved and deducted expenses then document it on my account here |

fullclub:You lie in your stories. They've not been encouraging, especially when you try to make reference to other people to buttress your points. Again, when you tell your story, put a caveat about why your experience isn't conforming to those of average Nigerians. Don't present it like an ideal situation for any typical Black person coming into the country. You had opportunity back here to guide others achieve success but you refused. Now, you are trying to paint a picture of trying to help others who intend to leave, albeit laced with lies. Who pays house rent in the UK and also pay all those separate bills when it's part of the house rent in the first place? You think you're the only Nairalander in the UK, right? |
