Are these people serious?
So they want a UK or US - based blogger (for instance), to open physical offices in Nigeria so that they could harass them when they expose their corrupt and nefarious activities. Shame!
It wont happen. The internet is a ''virtual'' space.
No point lamenting or complaining, this is what's know as a toothless legislation. Totally unenforceable, just like their attempted ban on bitcoin or twitter. You need to keep in mind that most of these senile legislatures don't have the technical sophistication to even open their email inbox.

It's necessary...

You can't hide behind key pad ..cook cock and bull stories for likes and shares .. falsehood you deliberately cooked to sell stories..na..

There should be an avenue to take responsibilities
But kidnappers are hiding in the bush with hostages and you think bloggers hiding behind key pad should be your priority as well as that of the senators.

are the senators accountable to nigerians?

should that not be the priority?

are they taking part of the responsibility for bad governance and for not properly supervising the executive but being a rubber stamp to the executive?

Oh, so now they want social media platforms to have physical offices in Nigeria? Is that really the battle we should be fighting, Senator Nwoko? While we, the youth, are starving for jobs, opportunities, and meaningful reforms, they’re busy chasing shadows, chasing after foreign companies who don’t care about our poverty or broken systems.

Where are the policies that tackle unemployment?

Where is the bill that addresses the abysmally low minimum wage?

You want accountability, Senator? How about accountability from our government for the billions being wasted on ‘phantom’ projects and the resources we continue to mismanage while our youth are struggling? You talk about economic losses, but the real loss here is the brain drain—our best minds fleeing to places that at least offer decent opportunities while we remain stuck in endless bureaucratic bottlenecks.

You want blogs to have offices in Abuja ? More paperwork, more bureaucracy, more of the same system that has crushed creativity and entrepreneurship. You’ve seen the power of social media in giving Nigerians, especially the youth, a platform to speak, to earn, to create. Instead of using this bill to stifle free expression, why not focus on making this country a place where the youth can thrive without being oppressed by these never-ending laws that only serve to make the already powerful even more untouchable?

Enough of the distractions! The real battle is for a better Nigeria, not one where social media offices are the priority.
guy it makes sense

Before u post rubbish to generate traffic u will think twice cos your location is known

The government is not smart!

Assassinate 10-15 of them and the rest will keep mute for life.

Few reasons I love Putin. People would have be falling from staircase and out of windows.

Deliberate falsehood is a crime. Just like kidnappers are criminals.

Government should crack down on every form of criminality

You cannot crack down on all forms of criminality. You can only reduce it to barest minimum.

On first read , I was like what the heck are these buffoons up to but putting on a security analyst hat . It’s important to know where the data engineered / mined is being kept .
There are two main Data protection laws
GDPR and Soc
GDPR is for Europe and Soc states.

Where is all the data from all 53 African states stored ?
When you create a M365 account in Lagos where is the data stored ?
According to the Internet there are no data locations in Africa. Any tenant in Lagos has data stored in US.
The same will go for Facebook, Instagram , Tik tok etc. all the data you upload goes to servers in the states. Which should not be so . Create micro regions where Data is stored . If not Nigeria then Ghana which has a better political climate for data for west African countries. South Africa for South . Kenya for east and north could stay in EMEA .
I am not sure demanding is the way to go because if they say no . Then what is next … people would just use VPN to connect to these services to upload content .
Anyways my 2 cents

Good they must have physical officer they lies too much and creating unecessary problem for people.

Get office or quit blogging though this is not what I expect National assembly to sweat over because there are numerous pressing issues pressing our necks right now in Nigeria.

Tinubu government is worst than Buhari.

Make i no lie.

Do they know the meaning of the word blog.

Blog no be tv or newspaper.

It is digital and asking them to have physical office then you can arrest them at will.

Those supporting Tinubu govt will one day discover that they are victims are not friends of oppressors.
Senator Ned, a senator elected same way Tinubu was elected is sponsoring the bill, this senator is not under Tinubu, under seperation of powers, Tinubu has no right or oversight over him. Please speak reasonably, this has nothing to do with 'tinubu government'.
