Village Roadshow has filed for bankruptcy after fallout from a financial dispute with Warner Bros over ‘The Matrix Resurrections’ They were the production company behind ‘The Matrix, ‘Joker’, ‘The LEGO Movie’, ‘Zoolander’, ‘I Am Legend’, ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ and ‘Happy Feet’ |

pu7pl3:Tactical masterclass from that Muppet — Jason Kilar, when he dropped all films day and date on HBOMAX. The sins of that man continues to haunt WB. Lost Chris Nolan cos of that, almost lost Legendary Pictures (still lost a few projects to rivals tho), had serious issues with filmmakers and talent who felt WB ain't the place to no more — what Mike De Luca and Pamela Abdy is trying to rectify. WB always finds one way or the other to appear I'm the headlines for the wrong reasons. ![]() As for Village Roadshow, I don't know what they were dragging in court for 3 yrs that they couldn't let go so as to keep continuing doing business with their main partner studio, WB. It's just weird and ironic with the iconic films and box office success the movies they co-produced and co-financed with WB, and yet it's an $18mn lawsuit and counting that would make them go bankrupt. So what in the hell they've been using money to do all this while. |

I'm Still Here AKA Ainda Estou AquiI (2024) Eunice: Martha, you gotta help me. My husband is in danger! Martha: Everybody's in danger! I jumped into this despite having no prior knowledge of the subject matter, solely because of all the buzz it was getting. Set in 1970s Brazil, amidst the sunny beach bars of Rio de Janeiro, the country exists under the facade of a brutal military regime, hell-bent on silencing anyone who opposes them. At the center of it all is the Paiva family, living a hedonistic lifestyle to block out the noise until their lives are forever upended by the very "noise" they were trying so hard to ignore. This film strikes an emotional chord, and my blind faith in foreign-language films primarily led me to it. I don’t think I’ve seen a bad foreign-language film in the last two years. The Oscar buzz was just the cherry on top. Fernanda Torres, as Eunice Paiva, was the heart of the movie a poignant performance that deserved every accolade. That’s why it’s all the more surprising that Mikey Madison won Best Actress over her and Dami More in The Substance. They even cast her real-life mother, Fernanda Montenegro, to play an older version of her in one scene a silent yet deeply moving moment, as she gazes ahead with a sense of fulfillment despite the military regime’s efforts to suppress her. Montenegro is an absolute goddess of Brazilian cinema, by the way. She was the first Latina nominated for Best Actress at the Oscars, and with her daughter’s nomination this year, they have become the first Mother/Daughter to be nominated. And because it was a real life event, after watching the film, I read up on Brazil’s military regime in the 1970s the horrors, the atrocities… Man. A civilian government is simply the best way to go. A special, special film. But if you like your flicks fast-paced, this isn’t for you... 7/10

If he's confirmed for the role, IMO this is great casting. Easily puts a top of the line actor in the project and generates good audience visibility. Coming off a Golden Globes win and SAG Award for The Penguin, it's good publicity. Get a few more cast...I'd like adding blazing actors who have growing fandom popularity like Harris Dickinson, Will Poulter, Austin Butler and the likes, and we in for good business.

A Complete Unknown......7/10 Watched this 2 days or so after the Oscars to glimpse what Timothee Chalamet's name was doing in the Best Actor list late into the awards season. After watching, all I can say is I find it hard seeing Chalamet's name in there as the other contenders were head, shoulder and tails above Chalamet. Except for Colman Domingo in Sing Sing which I don't plan on watching. Not one of my favourite Timothee Chalamet's performance as I deem his DUNE PART TWO performance way superior over this, but the Academy and its politics won't acknowledge it. It's a biopic about the life of iconic folk music and rock musician Bob Dylan. It's a story about talent, love and the pitfalls of dealing with stardom. The more popular and successful you become the lonelier you get, as more and more people see you as the brand and less of the person behind the brand, even close friends. It's a musical. Has a few top tier songs to vibe to and I even got a favourite song I copped from the movie. Weirdly I have a preference for Timothee and Monica Barbaro's rendition of It Ain't Me Babe over the original from Bob Dylan and Joan Baez. Elle Fanning looked like an insecure tortured soul in that scene where they sang this song. She's got potential. As for Monica, that girl looks to have a bright future ahead of her. Interesting what I've seen. Good movie and great storytelling overall. |

Brave new world. Meh. Just there. Part of the I can't let a marvel movie pass me by so I watched it. Literally could have be anything. I didn't feel it at all. The reshoots and rewrites really messed it up. Bland. |

armadeo:One of my worst cinema experiences in recent memory 😭. 25 minutes in people where already disengaged from it, the guys were streaming EPL, why the ladies were just chatting away. By the end credits, only me and one other guy, remained just to see the post credits scene, which was also bland and met absolutely nothing lool 😩. Yeah, Marvel is down bad at the moment. |
