The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Rivers State in the 2023 election, Tony Cole, has reacted to President Bola Tinubu’s decision to declare a state of emergency in the state, saying it is a disgrace to Rivers people.

Cole stated that the declaration meant that everyone from Rivers State occupying political offices at both the federal and state levels should also step down.

Cole noted that the president faces a very difficult decision regarding the political situation, adding that declaring a state of emergency in the state is a challenging decision for Fubara.

However, he said the necessary political steps to resolve the crisis have yet to be taken, warning that without these actions, the conflict will persist.

He told Channels Television, “Everybody who is a political actor at the federal level should step down. Everybody who is a political actor at the state level should step down. A very hard decision has to be made by the president on the political side.”

I feel sorry for Tonye Cole. When people ask why don't decent people join politics? It's because they make you dirty. When Tinubu was campaigning for APC in the last election, he romanced with Wike but Tonye Cole and Rivers APC did not like the look of it because how can they be asking Rivers State to vote for them but their own Presidential candidate is only interested in his own ambition above party interest. Tonye Cole was confused because the President should have campaigned for the Rivers APC candidate but he couldn't do that because Wike wanted Fubara, Tinubu wanted Rivers.

Tinubu of APC romanced Governor Wike of PDP while his party in Rivers State was trying to win Governorship election. Do you think it is only Wike that is engaging in anti-party activities? I laugh at the people who think this one has won, that one has lost. You can see that these two are not interested in party politics. If their personal interests are satisfied, they can put it above party and country. The parties are just platforms for them to win elections. Dazall!

Fubara is to be blamed in all of these including some of you who are not giving him sound advice. How can Fubara start a fight that he hadn't control of just a councillor in the state? Just a councillor! You want to pick up a fight with someone who picked form for you, campaigned with his money, took the bullet on your behalf and just three months in office you started listening to the same people he fought in order to make you? Haba!
The president a season politician called them to give the face up a political solution, Fubara accepted for peace to reign some if you asked him not to. Fubara went to court rejecting every dot of the agreement. He ended up losing all. He even got a worst outcome than the president earlier offered.
Look in River's State today either you want to hear it or not, Wike is a factor to be considered in every political matrix. He is either with you to support you or he is in opposition. This is allowed in democracy. If Atiku or Obi has the lower and upper houses today Tinubu will be impeached tomorrow.
You must respect anyone who has this. Fubara didn't consider this. This is allowed in democracy. No one will give you a chance to rule until you are totally in charge. If someone has a block of what you need you really need to work with them or you face a strong and usually a devastating opposition.
