masterfactor:You live in a bubble....PDP is not the party in government (and I'm neither a party member orca card carrying member of any political party in Nigeria to start with...i have a totally different DEMOCRATIC ideology about how we should continue as a nation ) so why are you implying that an opposition party should commit teason by urging them to "go lift the State of emergency..." or even anything of its kind...🤔 Secondly, you have not done your research to know that these 27 guys left PDP ling ago and swore an affidavit to that effect which is on record and recognised by the same court under jekere-ekun that gave them judgement to return to their positions as state assembly members while side-stepping the fact that they had defected from the party that brought them to office in the first place. The Tinubu puppeteered judgement has also said the issue of defection is mutually exclusive and the 27 former House members cannot be denied judgement on the strength of their prior defection which was well documented ( signed and sealed by each of them) and aired by most mainstream media... This thing that Tinubu has done...weather he succeeds or not has set a very bad precedence and has exposed his grossly incompetent underbelly ! |

Ekaka14:@ bolded, can you provide the evidence that they left pdp , and secondly after they left pdp which party did they go ??. It only the court that can take away a sit of a lawmaker, why was fubara not patient enough. Everything happening in river state, fubara caused it. |

Northernblood8:.I see you think with your stomach not with your Akamu head full of mucor, have you forgot how many times this president call them together, how many time those oponu agbalagba called themselves PANDEV l, visited ASI Rock and Tinubu ask them to respect the rule of law, now you are crying like your ancestor who went to war, because of one bigot who leaves them and run go exile. |

justuschi50:Your emotions mean nothing to me boy.. Check the previous mention I quoted and see if there's any correlative sense in it; the news is about Rivers state, but you idiat quickly turned it to ibo problem.. Yes, it is happening in Rivers, what's you people's concern? It is quite shameful how you ibo people go about poke-nosing and making every negative stories about yourselves in comparison, even on issues unrelated to you ibo people. North this, bandits that. Whereas, your unknown gunmen have murdered more of your fellow tribesmen than outsiders! Why not remove the log in your eye first before talking about the speck in another?? You ibos don't have sense but always claim to be |

The PDP's rejection of the state of emergency in Rivers State is nothing more than political hypocrisy, considering that past PDP administrations declared and enforced states of emergency multiple times in similar situations. Past States of Emergency Declared Under PDP Governments 1)Plateau State (May 18, 2004) – Declared by President Olusegun Obasanjo due to ethno-religious violence. The Governor was suspended, and an administrator was appointed. 2)Ekiti State (October 19, 2006) – Declared by President Obasanjo over a political crisis and allegations of misconduct against the state government. The Governor was removed, and an administrator was put in charge. 3)Adamawa, Borno, and Yobe States (May 14, 2013) – Declared by President Goodluck Jonathan due to the Boko Haram insurgency. The move was widely supported as necessary for restoring security. Why the PDP's Argument Is Misguided PDP leaders did not oppose these past declarations. The 1999 Constitution (Section 305) gives the President the power to declare a state of emergency when there is a clear breakdown of law and order. Rivers State has experienced bombings and escalating violence, making intervention even more justified than in some of these past cases. Instead of playing politics, the PDP should support national security efforts and acknowledge that what was necessary under Obasanjo and Jonathan is equally necessary under Tinubu. Public safety must come before party politics! |

Moveittothem:The conditions are many and the one used here is the condition that if a fight erupts between any of the 3 arms of government in a particular State and it results to one stopping the others from functioning, such a State is said to lack a GOVERNMENT and the President has every right to wade into the issue and install an interim government pending when the issues are resolved (emergency rule) Another condition that could warrant the declaration of martial law and the one that happened in Rivers is when the conflict in a State comes to a point where the national security and economy are at serious risk. Fubara should have quickly warned those “overzealous” militant to not implicate him. A wise man would have swiftly denied having knowledge about them, the threats and the attacks on the pipelines. |

GoodGovernance:Most Africans are intelligent but their only problem is that they don't read, the section 305 of the constitution is clear on this matter. So Mr President doesn't need the NAS approval before declaring the state of emergency when the matter arrises. |

GoodGovernance:Idi*ot Read ur comment again and again and see for urself how u are the psych*path and also hypocrite in this case.I'm very sure u were among the people that were happy about Fubara actions of destroying the building to prevent those guys from sitting , am very sure u didn't condemn how Fubara actions were antidemocratic. They quietly took the case to seek legal interpretations and waited till the supreme court gave judgement and told the governor destroying the building was very wrong of him.Am sure you were among those that said the judgement were bought.U are now talking trash about State of emergency after deceiving the baby politician. |
