Sunsen:Is it possible that agents readying the state for a preplanned "state of emergency" might be the ones linking up with some wayward groups in the Niger Delta, in order to blow up the pipelines?? Just to Call a dog a bad name in order to hang it.. You sound like a deep thinker... You don't think this is remotely possible taking into considerations the events of the last few hours..? |

Exactly, they're just putting sentiment in this situation, the suspension will reset all of them, wike, fubara and house of assembly, I don't know if people wanted the River people to start a war before the state of emergency can be declared. quote author=EXOUSIAng post=134607626] In 2013 the governors and the House of Assembly members were not the cause of the crisis... Can't you see that these are two different events. I think you people should use your brains more please[/quote] |

anonimi:Were the the legislature and executive having protracted fight in those States you mentioned? Only Ekiti situation was almost the same with Rivers, although no one was bombing government infrastructure, still Obj suspended everyone. Awolowo wasn't lucky as he was tried and sent to jail. In 2018 senate already reamended the law and gave the President power to suspend governor if there is or going to be serious problem in any state. Common sense should tell you that Fubara was on the path to impeachment and the President's declaration just saved him. I know you online judges only long for crisis, which will surely affect good people of Rivers. |

Amotolongbo:State of emergency is what you mentioned you slow fellow. Now you’re twisting your own word to suit your lame narrative. Whether a governor was removed or not, the process is called state of emergency. |
| Re: Throwback To Past State Of Emergencies Declared In Nigeria by jmichael259(m): 6:05pm On Mar 19, 2025 |
chopnaira:Jonathan declared state of emergency on security situation as Boko Haram was becoming unbearable. So serious military action could be taken. The governors and state assembly were not suspended. |

hopexter:State of emergency can be declared in a state or sector e.g. state of emergency on health or security, education or road safety. How do we justify Suspending elected Governors and house of assembly when there are no outbreaks of riot, genocide, war etc |
| Re: Throwback To Past State Of Emergencies Declared In Nigeria by hopexter(m): 7:12pm On Mar 19, 2025 |
jmichael259:Oil pipeline explosion is not enough reason for you isn’t it? There were already more than two explosions in different locations in rivers. Now that there’s a state of emergency, let’s see if those vagabond will dare carry out another explosion. |

| Re: Throwback To Past State Of Emergencies Declared In Nigeria by jmichael259(m): 10:02pm On Mar 19, 2025 |
hopexter:How young are you or you are just beginning to hear about Rivers State? How many state of emergency have been declared for each time there was pipeline explosion? How does any of that concern the newly reinstated assembly members, appointees or the deputy governor and governor? Is pipeline explosion more significant than the slaughtering of indigent farmers in Ondo, Benue etc? And yes, this move wouldn't magically stop explosion if they wanted to. Reality is that the same people that beat the drum and still came out to ask who did it. |
| Re: Throwback To Past State Of Emergencies Declared In Nigeria by hopexter(m): 10:12pm On Mar 19, 2025 |
jmichael259:How many states do you want to bring into this rivers state of emergency issue just to prove your meaningless point? You asked if there was trouble or chaos in the state and I replied if the explosion wasn’t enough reason. Pipeline is more significant because the ijaws now see it as an avenue to threaten Nigeria. They don’t own the oil so they have no right to explode any pipeline and federal property for that matter. Terrorism is in all states, even your mothers came out last two weeks complaining about the atrocities committed by the herdsmen in their farms. Should there be state of emergency because of that? |
