After spending billions to renovate Abuja Stadium and giving it another nomenclature - Moshood Abiola Stadium - we are still back to Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo? Truly, there is something fundamentally wrong with leadership and governance in this part of the world Modified: The Super Eagles should not underrate this Zimbo team oh! Besides, I am not comfortable with Eric Chelle's team line-up. Why starting with an all-attacking formation that looks like we are two nil down? Only two midfielders? Hmmm. Judolisco:On the contrary. I think it is because of the Uyo stadium the Federal Government has refused to maintain the National Stadium in Abuja or any of it's own stadia around the country to FIFA standards which is alien to the traditions in most soccer loving countries. Yes, my wife was right for insisting on buying a car for herself now that I have to abandon my badly maintained one for hers. Hemanwel:Whatever they claimed was done there is still not to FIFA standards and except we wish the ignomy of playing our home matches in Benin Republic, Uyo unfortunately is the defacto National Stadium. Emmastan291:'Should make' as per designation or ownership....because they presently own far bigger stadia in other places, Abuja, Lagos... which they just cannot develop, redevelop or maintain. So the last thing anyone should want is to let them have the Uyo stadium in any way, shape or form. It will be the certain end. Let those who value things have them and hire them out to Nigeria plc in business terms. |
