The PUNCH Newspaper has always been a fierce critic of the Tinubu administration so no surprise with this editorial. Citing the 'hasty' removal of fuel subsidy and forex harmonisation as two policies that are failing clearly shows the paper's bias and mindset.

However it is looked at, those two policies may have been put in place very fast but delaying those decisions would have made it more difficult to implement as we have seen through the decades. I firmly believe that posterity will reveal that those policies were best pronounced and implemented at the time they were done despite the initial shoddy implementation and hardship it brought in the short term.

The other subtle threat is the comparison of this state of emergency declaration with that of Balewa's govt and the series of events that eventually led to the civil war. If no war broke out when OBJ declared state of emergencies in 2 states and forced out governors in some others, why are the alarm bells now ringing with this declaration?

See how all the governors are crying but it is constitutional for governor to suspend elected local government chairman the governor should taste what they normally do to local government chairman

Have we heard of another pipeline bombing? NO!
Why did d governor make the statement that d youths shoukd be on alert that they will be told next step to take? I don't know.
When d pipeline bombing happened did d governor issue statement condemning it? No.
So what are u people now saying?
That tinubu shoukd wait till it gets out of hand?

Tinubu's drunkenness for power and wealth caused it. He could have settle the dispute diplomatically as a leader he claimed to be, knowing fully well that Gov. Fubara is an easy going person.

I dont see anything wrong in Tinubu declaring emergency in Rivers state.

The situation there is very very serious.

God bless Tinubu.
Always a yoruba person who live outside portharcourt talking about the seriousness of the situation... Which situation? Do you know that rivers state is more peaceful than lagos?

Wike is nobody's dog.
1. He has bought d loyalty of nearly everyone under Tinubu. From Senate president to speaker to APC party chairman etc

2. He owns d judiciary right from when he was governor. Even Buhari run to him to secure Supreme Court victory.fayemi ,Obaseki etc visited him.

Something will happen within APC before 2027. Tinubu won't run. They will also deal with Wike .

They will tear up APC.

Maybe if the gladiators had restricted their affairs to personal attacks, they wouldn't have played into his hands - if true.

Funny how the commentators failed to see the bigger picture, Fubara would have been impeached in about three weeks from now and that would have thrown the state into more mess.
What is wrong with all of you? Defending this Illegality as if ts a good thing?

*THE UNFOLDING DRAMA/CRISIS IN RIVERS STATE - Abeg no Igbo should get involved!*

The country is boiling again.

Emotions are high once again.

But Igbos must be very circumspect this time.

Nigeria is a country with neither soul nor spirit.

But with a body clothed in evil.

It was an artifical construction.

We must tread with caution.

Remember 1966.

The crisis was in Yorubaland.

Between Awolowo and Ladoke Akintola, the Premier of Western Region.

The press called it Wild Wild West

Then "Operation Wetie" started.

Then the constitutional crisis.

Awolowo was thrown into Calabar prison by Balewa.

Then the state of emergency by the government of Balewa.

There was nationwide anger and frustration.

Then a group of military officers intervened to save the situation in 1966.

It was termed "Igbo coup".

The source of the crisis was forgotten.

Operation Wetie was forgotten.

Igbos became the devils that didn't want Nigeria to work.

Igbos became scapegoated for a crisis that started from Yorubaland.

Then the killing of Igbos started nationwide.

The pogrom was bloody.

No ethnic group spoke for the Igbos.

Ojukwu retreated to the East.

Igbos retreated to the East.

Ojukwu released Awolowo, imprisoned by the Balewa government but now under his jurisdiction from Calabar prison.

Awolowo returned to Yorubaland and teamed up with the rest to join the war efforts against Igbos.

He became friends with those who cast him into prison at the expense of Igbos.

At the end of both the progrom and civil war approximately 5 million Igbo lives were wasted.

Because of a crisis they knew nothing about.

and for involving in a fight that wasn't theirs.

I can see a pattern emerge here once again.

Today the crisis is in Rivers State.

The state of emergency is in Rivers State.

Rivers State is not Igbo.

The state of emergency is not in Igboland.

The crisis in Rivers is not in Igboland.

The Corper who rightly called EmiloRogue a terrible person is not Igbo.

But Igbos una blood too dey hot.

You want to save Nigeria again.

Stay in your region and allow Nigerians cancel themselves.

Don't be a hero.

Don't waste your lives.

Don't draw unnecessary war on Igbo land.

Let the saviours emerge from Yorubaland.

Let the deliverers rise from the North.

The Igbos must remain calm as spectators.

Nigeria is a country without soul or spirit.

It only has a body clothed in evil.

Tinubu is a terrible person.

The Emilokrooks are one of the most despicable vile folks you can deal with.

Worse than the Miyetti Allah and Fulani herdsmen.

You can see the bile and poison that constantly emerge from their hearts and mouths in anything that involves Igbos.

Their target is not Rivers.

They are baying for Igbo blood once again.

Don't try to save Nigeria.

The country was set up for the destruction of its inhabitants.

Don't allow vultures like Bayo Onanuga and imbeciles like Tope Fasua spit over your graves once again.

1966 must not be re-enacted in Igboland, their nemesis.

I just say make I download a piece of history for your guidance.

Nigeria can only make progress in darkness.

Nigeria is irredeemable.quote author=Maxymilliano post=134622803]

Lol a typical Yoruba man... Yuu know nothing about what you speak of.
Let me clear you... Name just one person that has died.

Militants blowing up pipelines that is suppose to be protected by the army, navy and airforce is not something you blame the governor for.

Thousands has been killed in the different northern States, there has been gun fights, explosions, villages and towns has been sacked so when is your Abuja emperor planning to declare a state of emergency in those states?

I will not reply you because of the bolded as I can see your argument lacks logic but is filled with emotions and hate for a particular tribe.
