On Tuesday, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu declared a state of emergency in Rivers State after meeting with security chiefs and key stakeholders. This decision led to the appointment of Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (Rtd) as the Sole Administrator of the state.

Additionally, the emergency rule suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara and 27 state House of Assembly members allied with Nyesom Wike for six months due to the lingering political crisis in the state.


WHY WIKE MAY NOT BE HAPPY:

(1) Failed Impeachment Plot: Wike and his allies wanted Governor Fubara out by all means through impeachment. However, the emergency rule has put that plan on hold.

(2) Unexpected Impact on His Allies: Wike may have assumed that the emergency rule would only affect Governor Fubara, but he was likely disappointed when his 27 allied lawmakers were also suspended.

(3) Loss of Political Control: Wike, known for his strong grip on Rivers State’s politics and resources, has now seen control shift to President Tinubu due to the emergency rule.

(4) No Influence Over the Sole Administrator: Unlike elected politicians, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (Rtd) is a military officer answerable only to the president. This means Wike cannot control or influence him.

(5) Impeachment Blocked: With the emergency rule in place, Governor Fubara is protected from impeachment for at least the next six months, frustrating Wike’s plans.

(6) Tribal Politics at Play: Wike, known for playing the tribal card, might not be happy seeing an Efik man in charge of Rivers State’s affairs.


WHAT DO YOU THINK?

There are two different things between a vice admiral and an admiral, the gap is too much.

Infact someone who became a captain will reach vice admiral rank earlier than someone who became a vice admiral to be an admiral

A vice admiral is just a rank below an Admiral and they are referred to as Admiral informally just as you have for the line of general

Better go and remove president Tinubu yourself cos the man in Aso Rock is in charge, trying to stop is as good as saying one is standing against a strong tsunami. A Captain is a far junior officer in the naval rank. A Captain will still have to reach Vice admiral before he can become admiral. Do you know how many steps are between a Vice admiral and captain?

Nigeria has about 26 admirals, that alone is to tell you how difficult it is to get to admiral level.

I am saying that it will be easier for a captain to reach a vice admiral level than for a vice admiral to reach admiral level.

Some states doesn't even have a single person on admiral level
