DICKSON, ABARIBE, TAMBUWAL WALK OUT AS SENATE BACKS TINUBU’S RIVERS EMERGENCY

The Senate on Wednesday endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s state of emergency proclamation in Rivers State, but not without fireworks, as Senators Seriake Dickson, Enyinnaya Abaribe, and Aminu Waziri Tambuwal stormed out in protest.

The closed-door session saw Dickson and his allies strongly opposing the emergency declaration, particularly the suspension of elected officials, which they argued was unconstitutional. Despite their objections, the Senate overwhelmingly backed the president’s move, shutting down an open debate on the matter.

Displeased over the outcome, Dickson, Tambuwal, and Abaribe exited the plenary before the Senate President could formally announce the decision.

Speaking afterward, Dickson thanked his colleagues who supported his stance and acknowledged that the presidency had made some modifications to the original declaration. He noted that while oversight mechanisms had been introduced, they did not erase the core constitutional concerns.

“I appreciate the efforts to adjust the terms, but it doesn’t change the fact that this proclamation lacks constitutional backing,” Dickson stated.

He also criticised the Senate President Godswill Akpabio, accusing him of trying to silence his opposition. “The Senate is a meeting of equals, and no lawmaker should be censored for speaking on national issues,” he fired.
They should be sanction or suspended for 3 months

Tambuwal, he disappointed and betrayed Femi Gbajabiamila despite the support he gave him. Wike supported him with =N=500 million Rivers money, when Wike needed him he disappointed and betrayed him for his brother.

My message to him, Instead of Atiku, an elder statesman and other to play politics, it would have been better for them to strategize on how to provide gas supply to AKK gas pipeline and crude oil to Kaduna Refinery from the Crude and Gas reserves in the North. The Ijaws will still blowup pipelines in future if judgement delivered by Supreme Court did not go their way.

As they walked out, they should never return back again.

Rivers House Of Assembly Saga: Nigerians Demand Accountability From The Judiciary - JAD.

The Joint Action for Democracy - JAD has called on the conscience of the Nigerians to demand accountability from the judiciary, to protect her independence, and restore confidence in the judiciary as the last hope of justice.

Concerning a viral video showing Rt. Hon. Martin Amaewhule and others waving the APC flag; The national cordinator of Joint Action for Democracy- JAD, Peter Ameh decried the recent inconsistencies within courts of coordinate jurisdiction and obvious political influence that has bastardized the essence of fairness and justice.

Said that politicians now boastfully use the Judiciary as a weapon to undo their opponents and procure a judgment in their favor.

Using the case of Rivers, JAD released a video showing Rt. Hon. Martin Amawhule and 26 others of the Rivers State House of Assembly loyal to FCT Minister Nyesom, voluntarily defected from their original political party without any established crisis within the party and swore to an affidavit to authenticate their defection.
JAD argues that they automatically lost their seats as prescribed by Law.

‘We have seen how they still boast that they shall influence the Judiciary in their favor.

Nigerians especially Rivers people rely on the Supreme Court to put the record straight without any undue influence.
The Supreme Court as the highest decision maker is expected to protect the sanctity of Nigeria's Judicial system to avert the breakdown of law and order in the oil-rich Rivers State.’ - Joint Action for Democracy JAD said.

anonimi:
2023: PDP and politics of healing Wike’s self-inflicted injury

Then, the race began in earnest for three years now, reaching a frenzy with the works of the two PDP committees on zoning. The first was the Gov Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi committee on the zoning of the PDP party offices. The Ugwuanyi committee quickly told the world the committee’s assignment did not cover zoning the office of the president. Though this was true, the question is: why didn’t the Ugwuanyi committee zone the PDP chairmanship to the North without aligning it to the divide that would produce the PDP presidential flag-bearer? The second committee headed by Gov Samuel Ortom of Benue state was specifically on the zoning of the presidential ticket and, with the votes of the representatives of all the 17 Southern states without any exception, the Committee unanimously recommended throwing open the PDP presidential ticket, which the PDP NEC simply upheld.

One thing irrefutably stands out – Wike shot himself in the leg. Here was a man who had an overarching influence on both committees but could not insist that the ticket be zoned South. Many had wondered why? The reason is also relatively in plain sight: the Southeast factor. As the clamour for zoning of the presidential ticket of the PDP to South reached its crescendo, many had pointed out the fact that though the PDP Constitution had prescribed zoning of the office of the president to be between North and South since the South-west and South-south had taken their turns in producing the president and the vice in this current dispensation in the persons of Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, zoning this time around, should not just be to the South but the Southeast.

Atiku Abubakar went a step further by offering to step down from the race if it would be agreed that the touted zoning to the South would mean micro-zoning to the Southeast. Wike and the rest could not take the Atiku challenge maybe because Atiku would likely back Peter Obi, who was his vice-presidential running mate in 2019 and an ally. The prospects of Peter Obi picking the ticket if PDP zoned South was so real compelling Wike to go for an open contest, believing he could pick it up ahead of Atiku, Tambuwal and Bala Mohammed, given his large war chest.

The truth is that, tho Tinubu's decision was kinda harsh, but it's equally the best ever........At least,by the 6 months time, the heads of both parties of wereys and that of drunkard Wike go don calm down...
how can tinubus decision be the best?

did it follow constitutional provisions?

if the situation between fubara and the legislators was escalating, is SOE the constitutionally recommended solution to deescalate the problem?

Wike calm down?

are you not aware that the revenue of the rivers state has been released to the sole administrator which contravenes every constitutional provision in Nigeria?

who do you think will get that money?

I agree with Senator Dickson. The senate is a congregation of equals. That is how we feel when we are at a lower rung. Am quite sure Senator Dickson will do this someday to another Senator if he becomes the SP. Akpabio that is doing this today once felt oppressed.

The should have stayed and voted against the proclamation.

They could have insisted on a physical division vote over the voice vote.

Instead they chose the empty symbolism of a walk out. There is no true opposition in this country.

Where are all these people when the political turmoils in Rivers state are unfolding. All these are just eye service, selfishness and mischief makers,Non of them really love Rivers state but just waiting for loopholes that can benefits there political aspiration.

So they are expecting Mr President to open his eyes and allow as of today a place where 75 % of Nigeria revenue are coming from be blown up before taking decisive decision though harsh but necessary. The same people will be blaming him if he had wait a bit longer and things get out of hands.

Please please and please stop talking like a fool that you are. What did the president say about the threats of blowing up pipeline and impeachment by his Minister Wike? What does the constitution say about defection? Did the Supreme Court charade of a judgement take away your common sense? Do you know the meaning of swearing to an affidavit as a confirmation of the televised defection of the 27 lawless makers?

One day, the tables will turn... it is inevitable.

When OBJ suspended 2 governors and SHoA, Nigerians, in unity, spoke against it. Even those in power today, were very vocal in thier condemnation of the declaration and no one called them wailers or sore losers... what was wrong, was wrong, no attempts to rationalise it from the masses.

Today, those people have turned to hydra headed monsters, gleefully engaging in the very things they condemned. They have breed an army of miscreants who call those seeking sanity and justice, wailers and sore losers. Now, they revel in hypocrisy and justify thier impunity, and when no justification can be made, they simply tell the masses to go to hell...

But one day, the tables will turn and they will be victims of the illegalities they support today.
It is very legal
