In Ibibio mbre means "to play" but you have to say it twice for emphasis when driving home your point. So i was simply saying "i don't play at all. Cheers.

That's a white lie!

Esuru is eaten in all parts of Yoruba lands, no spiritual attachments.
Dey play. I am never said it forbidden in any part of Yorubaland. I only said it has some unfounded myths around it. Ask what is onje awon agba and you will have your answer

Food like esuru, ekuru have symbolic meanings attached to them

I guarantee you my sister that the day you taste the soft yellowish specie, you will fall in love with anem like i did some years ago.
Just like yam you can also eat it with stew, any type of sauce, with beans or as porridge.

It's called Esunu in Ebira.
It's actually delicious when it's well cooked, but a poison when it isn't well cooked or the wrong specie.

Really?
Can you enlighten us on why it's forbidden.

Even in Yorubaland, it has some strange peculiarities around it. It's not considered to be an ordinary food. It's mean for certain people that belong to the spiritual realm.
Well we can't say for sure why the people of Owere forbide it's an age long norm passed down to us by our ancestors.
It's so strong to the point that the easiest way of dissolving a marriage no matter the age is when a wife prepires or even eat this in her husband's home, na your papa house one way ticket
