Rivers: Emergency Rule To Weaken Wike’s Influence, Says Analyst by Islie(op): 9:38am On Mar 22, 2025
A public affairs analyst, Amilda Fraser, has described the state of emergency declared by President Bola Tinubu in Rivers State as a strategic move to weaken the influence of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, in the state.

According to Fraser, the emergency rule is also to shield Governor Siminalayi Fubara from impeachment.

In a statement on Friday, Fraser described Tinubu’s decision as a multifaceted strategy aimed at restoring order, safeguarding economic interests, and recalibrating the state’s political landscape.

She said, It temporarily shields Governor Fubara from political threats while simultaneously diminishing former governor Wike’s influence, highlighting Tinubu’s adeptness in navigating complex political terrains.”

According to her, the move effectively stops the impeachment process initiated by the Rivers State House of Assembly, allowing Fubara to regroup and strengthen his political base without immediate pressure from legislators loyal to Wike.

She further stated that the suspension of the Assembly, which has been largely controlled by Wike’s loyalists, significantly reduced the former governor’s ability to exert political influence over state affairs.

With the legislative arm out of the picture, Wike’s political maneuvering within Rivers State is temporarily curtailed, indirectly checking his power.

“Additionally, rising security concerns, including incidents of pipeline vandalism—such as the recent fire on the Trans Niger Pipeline—have heightened fears over the state’s stability and economic security.

“With emergency rule in place, Governor Fubara now has a critical window to consolidate his political support and address internal divisions. Freed from immediate legislative threats, he can focus on governance, strengthening alliances, and implementing policies that could enhance his political standing ahead of the eventual return to normalcy,” said Fraser.

cool I agree with this! as much as I dislike Tinubu and APC but I see a political abracadabra here, have you noticed that Wike is not really talking as usual huh I bet Wike never saw this coming, this was a strategic political move by Tinubu to tame Wike growing influence. Another clue to support this is that Tinubu never cautioned Wike on the crisis in Rivers state instead he was attacking Fubara, meaning that Tinubu already had a plan to deal with Wike. Wike now has lost influenced in Rivers state, because the sole administrator would now take orders from the President. It was a game plan all along, the game here was that Tinubu would set a fight between Wike and Fubara then at the center of it all he would take over. A classic example of game of Thrones.

This one na lamba. This was a game plan all along. Tinubu was beating the drum and wike dancing. They will still impeach fubara because the state of emergency doesn't stop him from impeachment. APC needs rivers state for 2027 and the plan is to still the speaker as governor and they will proceed with their decamping to APC. But wike might find it difficult to control the speaker if he eventually becomes the governor. The way APC and tinubu is going, is only God that can stop them in 2027.

If not low IQ how will you say it weakens Wike , it has strengthened him , Wike will spend the next 6 months consolidating his political structure and Fubara will be abandoned because he no longer has free money to fund his faction... immediately the 6 months elapse and the house inaugurated Fubara will be impeached same day or they stretch the emergency rule 1 year 6 months after which Fubara can't win any primary

What many have failed to understand is that Tinubu needs both Fubara and Wike for his 2027 ambition. He won't dump wike for Fubara and he's not going to dump Fubara for wike as well. He needs both of them. The biggest loser here is PDP.

😆😆
I laugh in Swahili
The premise that the imposition of the state of emergency and unconstitutional suspension of the governor was a ploy to save Fubara from impeachment is not only preposterous but laughable!

After widespread condemnation esp from rivers state about the unconstitutional actions of the president in suspending the governor and house of assembly members, they have decided as usual to flood the media with new narratives that the president was only trying to protect fubara just to deodorize the illegal actions of the president and to placate the citizens of rivers state!

The same sole administrator that is an ally of Wike?
Some clowns still don't understand that this whole imposition of state of emergency and appointment of an obviously illegal sole administrator was scripted before now to siphon funds from the state for wike in preparation for 2027!

Re: Rivers: Emergency Rule To Weaken Wike’s Influence, Says Analyst by DIVINEEVIDENCE: 12:19pm On Mar 22, 2025
Absolute trash.

So, while Fubara consolidates his political base, Wike would be folding his arms and sleeping abi?

What is someone who won an election and was duly sworn into office consolidating political base for when there's no election in view?

This is a democratic coup.
It is political madness and nothing else.

Re: Rivers: Emergency Rule To Weaken Wike’s Influence, Says Analyst by simpleseyi: 12:19pm On Mar 22, 2025
Isn’t it obvious?

I said if in another thread, Tinubu’s SoE is to protect Fubara from impeachment. If not for the SoE, Fubara would have been impeached overnight in one beer parlour since he has burnt down the State Assembly complex. So Tinubu actually checkmated the Assembly by the SoE which had stopped the planned impeachment. Now, Fubara can come back in 6 months, but if Tinubu had waited for about 48 hours, the kindergarten governor would have been impeached and he will not have the opportunity of coming back in 6 months which Tinubu just granted him.

All these useless career politicians together with the millions of lazy youths without life ambition on the internet spewing nonsense are so dumb
