omotoda:Are this hybrid inverters very reliable? |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by omotoda(m): 11:04am On Mar 22, 2025 |
temi4fash:It's a new brand that just came into the market.I don't know about reliability but I want to believe since they are new entrants, the quality might still be okay. If you are not going for the likes if Growatt,SRNE,Victron ,etc,I want to believe every other brand is in the same bracket. I might be wrong though. |

Dam5reey1:I notice you don't use knife changeover switch in your installation. Is on of the AC breaker serving this purpose? |

Is there any hybrid inverter whose CC can work independently? |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Valto(m): 12:19pm On Mar 22, 2025 |
ajabani4allah:almost all high PV batteryless hybrid all can work independently . it will come on in the morning and start charging ,then goes off when sun is down. |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by ajabani4allah(m): 12:40pm On Mar 22, 2025 |
Valto:It seems you don't get my question. I mean the one can work without necessarily putting on the inverter, probably that will have separate switch from that of the inverter |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Valto(m): 1:01pm On Mar 22, 2025 |
ajabani4allah:u don't need to put on the inverter. it works even when the switch is off |

Hello house, good evening. Looking towards a bit of recommendation or ideas. I'm seeking to increase my setup. Currently it's Panels: 8x 580W Jinko = 4.6kWp (On a good day i get around 4kW instantaneous, which serves good for daytime including inverter ACs usage from as early as 10am till 6pm) Batteries: 2x PylonTech 5.12kWh = 10.24kWh (Since i am grid-tied (Band A), this hardly goes below 85% DOD cycled) Inverter: Growatt SPF 5000ES. The inverter's max input voltage is 450V which limited me to a a single string of 8x panels = 408 VOC. One extra panel would have crossed VOC with almost 10V because each is 51.02 according to specs. I am looking to do the following: Add 1x PylonTech 5.12kWh to make total battery 15.36 kWh Change the inverter to the SPF 6000 ES Plus which supports up to 500V and 8kWp array Doing this means I can then add 10 extra panels in a 9S2P config. VOC will go up to 459.18V and theoretical yield will be 10.4 kWp. If the panels, on a good day, can do 85% yield, that's about 8.8kwP but the inverter only supports 8k; so about 800W best case (or 1.6kW worst case) is lost to overpanelling. Am I on the right track?, or should i consider an inverter than can support up to 10kWp array? such as the Growatt SPH 5000TL-BL-UP 5kW capable of doing 9.5kW array and up to 550VOC. Except this is 5kW and not 6kW. At this point, isn't it better to do the SPF 6000 ES Plus since it can be paralleled and thus can do 2x (12kW power; 1000 VOC, 16kWp) assuming I will do two banks of solar input? Thank you. |

Hello Good people, trust you all are doing well. Is anyone here monitoring their battery via Home Assistant or Esphome? I am having trouble trying to connect a JK BMS for remote monitoring. There's very little or outdated materials on the web. Is there anyone who can help? |

@fuckboys, it’s prismatic LiFePO battery according to ChatGpt, and Josh’s systems are actually 12.8Volts.

Between Mono and Poly crystal solar panels which one performs better? |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by mctfopt: 6:45pm On Mar 22, 2025 |
fuckboys:Those are CALB lifepo4 cells with plastic shell. CALB has cells either in aluminium shells (popular version) and this plastic design. Some CALBs I got from Sinopoly 5 years ago are still rocking Going back to the battery, build is BS, the BMS may likely be BS too. They could've done better.

Greetings everyone, I've quietly followed these threads and thank the knowledgeable contributors for their valuable insights. I am researching on behalf of my dad, who plans to switch to solar power for his home. He recently received a vague quote that is missing several key details. I have encountered reputable brands such as Growatt, SRNE, and Victron and would like to choose a quality brand that will stand the test of time for this project. I am also open to connecting with someone trustworthy and genuinely interested in managing and executing this installation. Kindly post your contribution here. I have attached the quote for everyone's review. The location is Epe, Lagos. Here is a list of appliances that need to be powered: 1. Fridge and freezer (1 unit) 2. Freezers (3 units) 3. Borehole pump (1) 4. Room fans (4) 5. Parlor fans (2) 6. Dining room fan (1) 7. Children's parlor fan (1) 8. Televisions (2) 9. Washing machine (1) 10. Water heater (1) 11. Game console (1) 12. Numerous light bulbs 💡 Additionally, we plan to purchase four solar light poles for the front and back of the house. Thank you for your assistance!
