Rivers: Tinubu’s Sole Administrator Moves To Impose Unconstitutional Lga Appoint by SimFubaraNews(op): 3:11pm On Mar 23, 2025
Fresh concerns have emerged over an alleged plan by President Bola Tinubu’s Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas to announce new Local Government Area (LGA) Administrators tomorrow, despite the clear provisions of the Nigerian Constitution and the recent Supreme Court judgment affirming the autonomy of LGAs.

This move, if carried out, would amount to a blatant disregard for democratic principles and a violation of the Supreme Court’s ruling, which reaffirmed that local governments must be governed by elected officials, not handpicked appointees.

Sources indicate that names of supposed administrators have already been compiled, raising fears of an orchestrated attempt to subvert the will of the people. Such actions could plunge the local government system into further crisis, setting a dangerous precedent for executive overreach.

Nigerians must remain vigilant against this unconstitutional maneuver, as it threatens the foundation of grassroots democracy. Any attempt to impose unelected administrators on LGAs must be met with firm resistance from law-abiding citizens, political stakeholders, and civil society groups.

Will the rule of law prevail, or will impunity reign? The next 24 hours will be crucial in determining whether democracy holds firm or is trampled upon.

The President is a man of integrity and he will not allow anyone to do anything that will tarnish his image.

Lets wait and see how it plays out.

Who's SimFubaraNews? grin You better follow your paymaster to Bayelsa and stop nonsense talk. Ibas will work with his own team for the time being as long as there's no constituted LG Chairmen presently. Instead of finding ways to reconcile with the 27 Lawmakers to get back to work as soon as possible, you're putting mouth in the affairs of Ibas.

Tinubu should go ahead and appoint those sole administrators if it suits the interest of the people.

The constitution allows him to do that so why the fuss?

Na just that LGA allocation money be these people problem...First they worked so the money will be sent to the LGA chairmen direct. Sims outsmarted them by removing their LGA chairmen.

The state is now under SOE, so the sole administrator has right to appoint local administrators for the local government. He can't be the state administrator and the same time local government is administrators. There can't bee vacuum as there supreme already annulled their election.

Re: Rivers: Tinubu’s Sole Administrator Moves To Impose Unconstitutional Lga Appoint by DeLaRue:
Many of you simply don't understand the full meaning of SOE.

According to the Oxford dictionary:

'A State of Emergency is a situation of national danger or disaster in which a government suspends normal constitutional procedures in order to regain control'.

It means that even aspects of the Nigerian constitution and several aspects of what we have come to accept as normal democratic practices are suspended during SOE.

That is why people, including many dishonest, publicity-hungry lawyers who appear on Arise news, who claim that an elected person (the President) has no power to suspend another elected person (a Governor) simply don't understand constitutional law.

Any honest lawyer who remembers basic constitutional law from his 2nd year at university will tell you that the sole administrator can appoint temporary local government administrators.

Generally, subject to the approval of the National Assembly, the Sole administrator can take such action or action or take such decision or decisions as are necessary to ensure the smooth and effective running of Rivers State.

Governing under a SOE is completely different from governing under normal setting.

Is anyone surprised...

The aim is to prepare the state for Wike and APC over the next 6 months or maybe 1 year.

There shall be a lot of actions of impunity which violate the constitution but Tinubu, Wike and Ibas wouldn't care.

Subvert which will of people? There were no elected chairmen before the governors suspension. HLGA appointed by Fubara are not recognized in the constitution. This is SOE so he has a right to appoint those to oversee the LG.
