It's fine...! That's why they are Gospel Artistes, not Ministers of God. Even R.Kelly in his career height had top selling Gospel albums. Same way there are so many Pastors and acclaimed Apostles in this Church business for largely monetary gains. There is nothing that Gospel Artiste is doing that he didn't learn from Clergymen. Some pastors encouraged this behaviour because they want to draw crowd to their programmes. Well, it's good we are having this conversation, especially following the expose by Mercy Chinwo. That man, EzeeTee, started this dubious commercialisation of gospel songs. He's done too many damage. Most of his artistes are already running out of business and that's fine. In time past, it was simply a department, no different nor superior to Ushering, Welfare, and others. The commercialisation of Spiritual gifts will further sink the church away from God! That's why a lot of them eventually go full blown contemporary, mainstream or worldly... Pastor Femi is right. There are various ways to make money as a gospel artists but charging the church that insane amount, on whose platform you got your first appearance via the choir to start singing is ridiculous and ungodly. Granted, the church can pay for hotel bills, flights, inbound logistics, and feeding. Then, after ministration, they can appreciate your grace and music ministry with a discretionary 5m, 500k each to your instrumentalists and aides. Sounds reasonable. You're not Burna Boy, you're a singer for the Kingdom of God. |

Has a Christian singer you have all the right to your wages for your songs, it's your live hood but if you ministering in the church, you do not commercialise it even if you billing make it show its for God first than the money, you doing it for the glory of God. The only offices in the New Testament church are that of the Elders and Deacons. The other offices have ceased.
