A recent debate has emerged within Nigeria's Christian community regarding the fees charged by gospel musicians for church performances. Apostle Femi Lazarus, the lead pastor of Light Nation Church in Abuja, criticized the commercialization of gospel music, expressing concern over artists demanding substantial fees to minister.
So they should perform for free? Their own talent and labour. Sir do you run your church without tithes and offerings, or any other forms of donation?

Pastor Chris has said it all. There's nothing "gospel" about the music.
There is nothing gospel about the pastorpreneurs and their church businesses.....all of them.

Charging a fee is different from an honorarium.

Does anyone ask you for money before you step into a church to worship God and dance to songs from people who gave their time for rehearsals or ushers who have to stand all day just to ensure that you have a great time? Does anyone sue you in court when you refuse to drop an offering or tithe after enjoying all these "privileges" you didn't pay for? No. When you (and these people) drop an offering, you do it honouring God, not as payment for services rendered to you.

This thing is simple enough for comprehension or do you need further explanation between charging a fee and giving an honourarium?

Not true. The only offices in the New Testament church are that of the Elders and Deacons. The other offices have ceased. Evangelist/Minister is not an office but an itinerary preacher of the gospel who keeps moving from one location to another.
You want to argue with Jesus Christ, bruv? You get mind.

Ephesians 4:11-13

"So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
In fact, it is an error and a huge disservice for a Christian to attend a church without the complete five-fold Ministry.

All these pastors should just shut up. They all became millionaires and billionaires through the gospel, so they should just shut up.

I don't support this hullabaloo about gospel musicians on social media.

It is not compulsory that a renowned gospel artist feature in any church program.
I find no biblical evidence that suggests that God responds better or answers prayers faster when a world class gospel artist is present.

When they are invited, it's for a symbiotic relationship.

If you cannot afford an artist please just have your program like that.

But if you choose to invite any artist, be ready to beat the financial burden.

If all church voluntary workers start demanding pay per work, I think we'd have solid gospel. The wealth in the church is as a result of free workers. Yet we have so many poor in the church while some GOs throw money around building edifices that is not needed to make heaven.

An Apostle is any of the 12 disciples chosen by Jesus Christ Himself in flesh and blood while here on earth wink None is alive now and the offices ended with them

That's why I love Catholic Church
Although I have not seen where we pay artiste but in my parish Port, we pays instrumentalists steady, except those that are genuine members. It is a call revival. The Church/ministry cannot function without song's ministration (the ministry of songs). If we really understand the place of songs (praise and worship) in the worship of God, we will all be involved and there will be no need for paying anybody for performing bcuz there will be more than enough artiste.

How is this different from a BEER Parlor discussion?
You Guys commercialized it yet you expect people not to follow suit, right?
U bill the gullibles, yet you don't want to be billed. Your reward is on earth but that of your performer should be in heaven. Jokers.
Seems everyone charges in USDollars now?
Ministers will ask for tithe, they will ask for first fruits, they will still ask for offering. Some do accountability, many don't. But they want to reward the musicians with ministerial handshake. Isn't that weird?
Ordinarily, I don't question or bother about all they take, it's not by force to put down offering; but why would you want to hinder the musicians? My life philosophy is: Live and let live!

Let me digress a little, Nigerians deserve their looters: those in religious garbs and politics. There is a cult followership among the sheeples especially when it comes to religion in Nigeria. Like they say, if you can not beat them, you join them. I study a trend among Nigeria pastorpreneurs especially the emerging ones. Immediately they train for public speaking, with sonorous voice, kaboom! They are all set for ministry. They all know all of them are fraud because they sell hope to the gullible congregants, some of which are doing the government biddings-keep the masses in mental bondage so they will not revolt again the government and the rich (Religion I'd what prevent the poor from murdering the rich). You know everything is about "trend" in Nigeria...I remember when Adeboye was trending, then Kumuyi, Oyedepoism became a trend bringing the prosperity gospel. During those time they said pastors doing the work of God should not be poor, you will see them bluffing on their altars including one they call Evang. Falade🤣. During the time of Oyedepo, the likes of Oyakhilome, Ashimolowo, Areogun, and some others reign as well...Later you start seeing Gen Z trolling after Selman🤣🤣🤣I remember during the time of Selman's reign the way one of my guys and friend who was a top exco in our campus fellowship in school. I remember the way he keep looking at us like the "condemned" simply we are not a zealot like him in Christ. If you see the way the guy will kabash, pray, fire...etc🤣🤣🤣When we get to law school, our spirikoko brother because he's left the four corners of school where people know him, our brother puff for one club where we go🤣🤣🤣When person tell me, I didn't believe until I confirmed from two or three sources that were with him the night the incident happen. The thing is religion gave people the opportunity to be a good pretenders. You see them in church, those congregants are all full of pretence, they are hypocrites.

Back to the main story, I remember how Selman will preach a sermon and be describing a story in the bible as if he was there, lol🤣🤣🤣You can imagine a fictional story o🙆But you see the gullible kaboshing: "Ah yayayaya...Oh Labamasaka...Lebradoshe..."🤣🤣🤣
Apornstle Suileman, Enenche, Biodun Fatoyinbo (the rapîst) also came into forth during this era. That Apornstle Suileman na lost cause jare, we-we know how e dey go. Na Biodun funny me pass, Biodun we we know, ashewo bast@rd go dey form holy holy...in order to be accepted, I remember how he invited Oyedepo to his church one time like that. Awọn cultist pastors🤣🤣🤣

The likes of Sam Adeyemi, Areogun, Korea Komaiya, Orokpo and the likes too. Despite all these business centres, Nigeria still remain one of the poverty capitals in the country. These pastorpreneurs are only building their empires which will be inherited by their BIOLOGICAL✅ sons and daughters not SPIRITUAL❌ sons and daughters. If you like call your pastor Papa from January to December, nothing for you but your tithes, offerings and seeds for your pastors.

Lo orí ẹ, ẹni tí kò bá lo orí ẹ, ẹlòmíràn á ba lòó (Use your head, anyone who fails to use his head, others will help him use it).

It's just a shame that Nigerians have the herd-mentality, crowd judgement. It is very hard seeing a Nigerian standing alone and not moving with trends. Those who do not subscribe to these their pastorpreneurs shenanigans are called rebels, black sheep and alm sort of names but they never knew that our freedom always come at a cost especially when you want to be unplug from the Matrix to finding oneself. The journey is a lonely road and only you gonna face it.

Craziness...They should sing and jump around in your concert but go home with empty stomach ?
Are you born again? Let us begin there, because if we don't, you will not understand what the pastor is saying. Go meet Davido and WizKid as a starting point for discussion.

These are God's funds collected through tithes and offerings, and they should be used wisely. Not to give any worldly singers who claimed to be a gospel minister.
