Please help me, anyone.

I'm trying to schedule an appointment, after finishing everything I realized there was an error on the DoB which I have to correct, but there's no way to correct it coz I found the error at the point of making the payment, the application had been submitted already.

I cancelled the application with the hope of starting all over again, but each time I try to proceed pass the Passport details page after entering both personal and contact details, the portal tells me - Duplicate applicant user found, and it's not going further from there. I've tried contacting support, but they've not been helpful.

Please help on what I can do, please.

You should not have cancelled the application. You should have simply filled another DS 160 form. You need to raise a ticket on the AVITS platform and ask for help to resolve this issue. Good luck!

I have a question, on your avits apointment letter does it say IW or Regular?, I just got an appointment date for IW but it was Regular on my letter and not IW, any info on this?

My Advice. I noticed a lot of people seem not well prepared for the interview. they answered and talked too much trying to convince the VO.
I noticed people who talk so much trying to defend your case without being asked were refused. So talk less and answer their questions only with very little elaboration.
Your travel history is very important to them and they asked almost everyone that same question. (Where else have you travvlled to ? ).

3. Previous travel history

I advised her to be calm and confident. I also cautioned her not to talk too much - but to eleborate on certain things like family ties and previous travel history. She said that really helped her has she has been to other Countries in Europe several times.

Also, she noticed that old people who had been to the US before to visit their child and stayed for a long time were refused. If you are inviting your parents to the US, ensure they don't stay for more than a month at a stretch. She counted three couples with this issue and they were all refused. She said blue paper was flying left, right and center.

Those couple that were refused visa must have stayed more than the time they stamped them at POE. I know of a parent that has stayed almost a year now, I believe the stamp-in was 6 months. Such a parent will have difficulty getting visa again if she is to return to Nigeria. I think one of the important part to consider is the stamp-in duration at POE.

Good day house, please I need help. First time applicant

i went to make MRV payment at the First bank and the applicant surname field on the portal was auto populated with my first name & last name. The bank staff advised me to initiate a new request on the AVITS portal, which I did by cancelling the initial request.

However after starting again, it now its says duplicate applicant found for user error. I check my profile and saw I have 2 applicant ID, but it’s giving me option to proceed and make payment. I have written support and they say they have escalated it, I don’t know how long I will have to wait for them.

Can I go ahead and make payment? I don’t want to make error. Thanks in advance

Thank you so much for your response, but the error wasn't on the DS-160 form, it was on the AVITS portal, details to fill before submitting to make payment. I realized the error at the point of payment and there was no way to correct it, so I had to cancel the pending appointment to create another one.

But I'm getting the error - Duplicate user found.

Hello. You have to create another AVITS profile entirely and save yourself the stress and waiting time. GOOD LUCK.

Did this already, but still same issue.
I guess the application isn't tied to the profile I created it from.
I already raised another ticket on the support, I hope it gets worked on this time other than some auto respond messages.

You will get the amentum number after you have created an account on the AVITS platform and you initiate an application.

Hello. The only avenue is through emergency appointment and i don't think you qualify because emergency appointment is based on three (3) categories; 1. Student emergency, 2. Business emergency, and 3. Medical emergency.


But if you have a tailored invitation letter for the graduation you may be granted an emergency appointment. GOOD LUCK.

Is this in Lagos or Abuja?, the wait I have seen for Abuja’s free pick up: DHL is one week. If it’s Lagos, I don’t know if the wait time is longer.

She has now decided to pay for premium. She's unable to move past the page where she is meant to proceed to pay.

Yes, you pay N50, 250 for pickup. Or you wait for free DHL pickup about 7 days not too sure of the number of days .

I think it's next year March by now because last time I checked it was Feb 2026 but now the Lagos appt page is not even showing any available dates anynore
