It doesn’t have to be consecutive.
When is that rule started?

It is always two consecutive matches.

Let the NFF do the needful

I think it must be yellow card in 2 consecutive matches. Match Day 1 and Match Day 4 are not consecutive matches.
Be prepared to play and win on the field of play. No back door points to qualify for the WC.
If you are knocked out of the qualifiers, you come sit at home and watch others play. The WC is nobody's birth right!
This guy will come from the eastern part of the country 😂

We know dem

It's possible he served the suspension during an AFCON qualifier match.
Maybe that's what happened
AFCON is a different competition, you can be red carded in AFCON competition but still play in the World Cup, but if it is in a World Cup qualifying matches, you must miss one match,if it is true the way it is stated here, then South Africa is in trouble for sure

We should have waited till after their match to "find out" maybe dem for deduct 6 points. In other news it doesn't pay us as we will drop 1 place on the table since Lesotho will climb higher than us if they get the 3 points.

I think it is 3 yellow cards

ibrahim galadima once said the world cup is not our birth right
He was right if he said that. World cup is no one's birthright.

Only Brazil can say they have qualified for all world cups. NO other country.

Nigeria itself, our football development is wayo wayo. So, we rely on foreign based players, who play in Europe, and who the Europeans have analysed the hell out of, and know how to counter them

And in the land of Israel, there was no BLACKSMITH...

No because a South Africa Benin draw would benefit Nigeria more than a Benin win.

Teboho Mokoena (Yellow Card 54 mins ) vs Benin- Match Day 1

Teboho Mokoena ( Yellow Card 52nd minute ) vs Zimbabwe -Match day 4

He should have been suspended for their game vs Lesotho, but he played. If confirmed, South Africa will be deducted 3 points.

Let NFF and CAF/FIFA know as this could be to the benefit of the Super Eagles
@thesupernerd is there any hope?

This one too dey and a defeat for South Africa makes them one point ahead of Nigeria and Benin two points ahead of Nigeria.

It will preferable to have Benin remain two points ahead of Nigeria by beating South Africa than South Africa remaining two points ahead of Nigeria.

Whatever the case a draw or defeat for South Africa is what Nigeria needs.

Check o

Were the two matches world cup qualifiers?

Or one of them world cup qualifiers and the other nations cup qualifiers?

In football, accumulating two yellow cards in separate matches within the same competition leads to a one-match suspension for the next scheduled game
Go and reread that rule number 3: it is "2 cautions in a match or in different matches of the competition" not one caution.

There is. You all should be thankful to CAR321. What a game changing info. Absolutely well verified.

I know about the rule but both of the yellow cards must be gotten from the same competition to attract red card/sendoff (same game) or suspension (over 2 games).

I think it has to be. Take the case of any other league for example. Premier League. Does having yellow cards on match day 11 and match day 23 mean that I will be suspended for match day 24?

I asked chatgpt:
pls find out if this south african player Teboho Mokoena has gotten 2 yellow cards when he played against benin and zimbabwe in this recent world cup qualifiers

ChatGPT said:
Yes, South African midfielder Teboho Mokoena received yellow cards in both recent FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against Benin and Zimbabwe. In the match against Benin on November 18, 2023, he was booked in the 58th minute for a late challenge on Jodel Dossou. In the subsequent game against Zimbabwe on June 11, 2024, Mokoena received a yellow card in the 52nd minute for a bad foul. Accumulating yellow cards in consecutive matches may lead to suspension, depending on the competition's disciplinary rules.

I think in the EPL you need 5 yellow cards for a suspension. It doesn’t have to be consecutive.

Card match day 3
Card match day 8
Card match day 11
Card match day 16
Card match day 23
Suspension match day 24

This thread reminds me of when nairaland used to be the go to source for original news and insightful discourse.
There was a time nairaland used to be the source of news for other mainstream and SM Blogs with articles and quotes being lifted from this site.
Unfortunately,Seun took his eyes off the ball or became static and allowed the hoarde of liars, disinformants, scammers, ethnic and religious jingoists to take over the site.
This information from this Op can be seen or passed to the NFF who can then pursue the case with CAF or FIFA.
