There was an argument between Onyekachi Nwaebonyi, senator representing Ebonyi north, and Oby Ezekwesili, former minister of education, on Tuesday.

The confrontation took place at the hearing of the senate committee on ethics, privileges, and public petitions on the fresh petition submitted by Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.

Ezekwesili joined Abiola Akiode, counsel to Akpoti-Uduaghan, and the petitioner, Zubairu Yakubu, at the senate committee hearing.

Yakubu had made efforts to speak while Neda Imaseun, the senate committee chairman, was speaking, but he was asked to put off his mic.

When Ezekwesili tried to intervene, Nwaebonyi — who appeared as a witness for Senate President Godswill Akpabio — interrupted her. She then told him to “compose himself and stop making noise”, which immediately sparked an outburst from the senator.

“You’re a fool. What do you mean? Why are you talking to me like that? I will not take it. You’re an insult to womanhood. People like you cannot be here,” Nwaebonyi replied Ezekwesili.

Ezekwesili fired back, calling him a “hooligan”, further infuriating the lawmaker.

The heated exchange disrupted the session before order was eventually restored.

Following the incident, Imaseun announced that the case was now before a court of law, leading to an abrupt end to the hearing.

This is not an Igbo problem period.

The result? A counter-coup that bathed the East in blood, a civil war that nearly wiped the Igbo nation off the map, and a legacy of scorched-earth policies that still lingers.

Fast-forward to the #EndSARS protests—initially a pure movement against police brutality. But soon enough, Igbos were singled out, scapegoated and accused of attempting to set Lagos ablaze. No matter how neutral they tried to be, the narrative turned against them.

Now, here comes another battlefield—one that has absolutely nothing to do with Igbos. Yet, some are already eager to carry it on their heads like an ohafia war dance head gear. Not every fight is worth fighting for, especially when it’s someone else’s war.

Igbos need to wake up and stop volunteering themselves as the sacrificial goat in Nigeria’s endless feasts of destruction. If they’re not careful, they’ll once again end up finding themselves served as the main dish on a Nigerian national menu they never even ordered.

I like the eloquence of Oby when she says to him - Will you shhhut up with her emphasis on the shut up and when she says to him - You are a scoundrel.

If it takes more Natasha's and Oby's to disgrace these greedy scoundrels on international TV for them to stop stealing our money thus impoverishing 200 million Nigerians with weaponized poverty then so be it.

The merits or demerits of Natasha's case is of secondary importance at this point. The important thing is that God can use anyone to point the searchlight onto the Greedy Nigerian politicians on international TV screens before they loot us all to death and enslave all of us into perpetuity.
