Expatriate Quota: FG To Clamp Down On Irregular Migrants From August by OgundeleTeju(op): 11:11am On Mar 26, 2025
The federal government has said it will begin a clampdown on irregular migrants in the country from August 1, 2025.

The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, disclosed this on Tuesday in Abuja after a meeting with the Nigerian Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA).

He said there would be “an immigration amnesty programme” for the regularisation of due processes for three months.

“The new administration system will take effect from the 1st of May 2025. So, we said from that 1st of May, we will create an immigration amnesty programme for regularisation of due processes for three months, that is, May to June, June to July, and of course, July to August.

“So, by the 1st of August, there will be a strict clampdown on irregular immigrants, and we hope that people will take advantage of the three months to be able to regularise and subject themselves to established immigration protocols,” the minister said.

The minister also warned that the federal government would no longer tolerate a situation where some companies obstruct the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) from carrying out its legitimate duties.

“So, we have said we will be very hard on any company that avoids or prevents the Nigeria Immigration Service from carrying out its legal responsibility. We will not tolerate that going forward,” Tunji-Ojo said.

The security of our Nation is our collective responsibility. It is not the responsibility of the government alone hence all companies should do what is right.
Nigeria will be great

Re: Expatriate Quota: FG To Clamp Down On Irregular Migrants From August by baby124: 12:24pm On Mar 26, 2025
Not only expatriate quota. A lot of people are working and staying without the right visa’s and overstaying their visa. They need to be told to leave. Especially Chinese and Lebanese. We can’t do that in their country. The ones parading Nigeria passports also need to show and prove how they became eligible for it. It seems there is someone issuing Nigeria passports to people that should not have it. Those people in the passport office need to be caught, sacked and jailed.

You didn’t understand the minister nor his message.
He wasn’t talk about the porous borders or undocumented immigrants filtering in. This happens in all countries of the world.
The point is those that are working should be properly captured. Their tax and activities should be accounted for. Period.

Ranting about camping down irregular migration is cool but how will it work.

Up north the Northerners see chadians, nigeriens as brothers because of Islam.

Is going to be hard because this migrants add to the population of northerners.
