Wike’s Political Gamble: How The State Of Emergency In Rivers Could Backfire by SimFubaraNews(op): 4:07pm On Mar 27, 2025
As Nigerians weigh the implications of the recently declared state of emergency in Rivers State, many political analysts will agree that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Chief Nyesom Wike, has made one of the most politically costly decisions of his career by refusing to give peace a chance.

Beyond the devastating effects on Rivers State, where the people will bear the brunt of the political crisis, Wike has also made himself more politically vulnerable than ever.

While he may believe that his current alignment with President Bola Tinubu secures his position, the political landscape is constantly shifting. Tinubu, after completing his constitutionally permitted eight years, will exit the stage. Meanwhile, Wike is likely to nurture another presidential ambition, just as key figures like the Senate President and other federal power players are poised to do. His role in the ongoing Rivers’ political crisis could come back to haunt him when the time for political reckoning arrives.

Moreover, Wike’s refusal to embrace peace has not only led to the appointment of a sole administrator but has also exposed sensitive dealings of the Rivers State Government, both past and present, to outsiders who should never have had access to such classified information. In a nation where politics is a game of leverage, this exposure could be weaponized against him in the future.

For a politician with grand ambitions, Nyesom Wike may have unknowingly laid the groundwork for his own downfall. The same political actors benefiting from the current state of affairs, where their loyalists have been strategically deployed under the guise of a state of emergency, could one day turn against him.

If that day comes, Wike might find himself in a perilous situation, much like Haman in Esther 7:10—ensnared by his own machinations.

In politics, power is fleeting. The question now is: has Wike, in his bid for dominance, just written the first chapter of his own undoing?

Wike is a man of courage. He will always do what he thinks is right for his people.

I believe he knows the risks and still took the decision. That shows he is a principled man.

All the secret classified information bordering financial malfeasance Sim Fubara has been protecting through out Wike's tenure when he was the Acct.Gen. will now be accessible to an outsider.

Those information might be used to nail him later. Under wike's administration, Rivers state IGR surpassed 15Billion monthly, yet he criminally manipulate the system to declare below 10B and pocket the rest. Fubara stopped all those magomago theft and insisted that under his watch, any amount generated by RIRB must be declared publicly which infuriated wike the more engineering the ongoing feud. Some days, we all would hear from EFCC about all the dubious dealings under Wike's watch. A day of reckoning is coming!

Exactly what I told some friends a couple of days back BAT has taken over the entire political structure of river state through executive fiat. BAT now has the opportunity to dig into Wike's past financial malfeasance to his own advantage. This could be used to blackmail him and shut him indefinitely and eventually nail his political ambition. All said, he will be the ultimate loser in the end of this political grandstanding.

Wiles main target is the position of vice president. That is why is always in the media granting interview and inviting the press everywhere so that is always spoken about and in our faces. Eating becoming president of vice president is all about bribing the governors to first people to vote for him. He doesn't understand that you need to also appeal to the masses to become elected.
