Why give the government more money in fines when it has not used previously given revenue judiciously to fix all roads, especially feeder roads?

Are Lagosians chronic sufferers huh

Some of your are funny. You like to do the hard things instead of the simple ones.

You think govt don't know you will try to get around the rules by getting other states plate numbers. They are coming for you. Just wait grin

Violating speed limit law in the US is $10 , Lagos wants to do now and it’s N50,000.
You ask yourself if the essences is actually the safety of the people or to exploit them… This would mostly result in further crimes cos whoever exceeds that limit and doesn’t have the money, would try to find an escape route and that invariably becomes even more dangerous.
My brother, 99% of those commenting don't even own cars. If you know how difficult it is to maintain 80km/h on 3MB, you'll just begin insulting the governor cos this speed limit doesn't make sense.

People are already owing fines as we speak, they just don't know. You can check the VIS website to confirm this...

There is a reason why I got my Plates from far away Plateau State when the I can do it at a trekable distance from me here in Lagos.

Secondly, Lagos plate was at least 100k
Plateau plate was 45k to wait for 1 week, and 50k for 24 hours.

Rates are less than 3 days old.

No better bargain for peace of mind.

BTW, 80km on 3MB needs to be adjusted, commercial busses are also exempted. What a country.
this is not true.

i am paying 30k for my plates

Sanwo-Olu is a foolish governor who doesn't know what he's doing. Instead of prioritizing grassroot development and welfare of Lagosians, you're looking for who to fine and imposing extremely low speed limits.

Speed limit on 3rd Mainland Bridge should be 100km/h at least, other roads can have 80km/h. I don't know if their plan is to frustrate car owners in Lagos, but if the APC government wants to make life hard for Lagosians, they'll see the result and it won't be funny!

When Lagos residents who are struggling to fuel their cars start getting naked for VIO officers, maybe Sanwo-Olu will have sense. 80km/h speed limit on 3rd mainland bridge and 50k fine? No wahala!
I don't think you have pass through 3rd mainland bridge before, the signposts of 80km'hr have been there for long
At the speed of 80km per hour, it won't take more than 10 mins on 3rd mainland bridge. Where are you running to?
Why are you are calling Sanwo-Olu a foolish governor for prioritizing the safety of Lagosian on motion

Why compare with the US when it comes to revenue generation through fines but fail to compare us with the US for governance outcomes from the revenue paid by the people or collected on their behalf?

What % of US roads are full of pothole, compared to Nigeria?
What % of US buildings have water from boreholes in the same compound as soak-aways and septic tanks because the state government does not provide pipe-borne water?

Lawmaker scores Lagos Water Corporation low

A Lagos State lawmaker, Mr Saka Fafunmi, on Thursday expressed dissatisfaction at the performance of the state Water Corporation.

Fafunmi, a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly (LAHA), said in Ikeja that the corporation had not been able to justify statutory allocations to it.

The lawmaker, who represents Ifako-Ijaiye Constituency 1 at the assembly, spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

He said that the corporation had the capacity to generate much fund internally through water rates but had relied solely on government funding because of poor performance.

'' Anyone that is using water will be willing to pay for it; the corporation has not been giving us water.

"Is there any new community that Water Corporation has given water? People depend on boreholes; even government estates have industrial boreholes.

"Why do we keep pumping money into an agency that does not give us the desired results?'' he asked.

He noted that the Adiyan Waterworks was located at Ifako-Ijaiye, where many of the residents had resorted to digging boreholes as a means of getting water.

''A lot of people are falling sick because they don't drink clean water.

''In the same compound, where you have sewage, is where you have a borehole.

''There is no way you can manage the sewage that it will not leak and pollute the water; everyone drinking such is drinking contaminated water,'' he said.

The lawmaker urged the corporation to increase water reticulation and supply to residents.

same thing I said yesterday.

This seems like a pure cash grab.

How can you expect someone to be doing 60km/h not 60m/hr on express lane when it's not even school zone..

And because Nigerians don't even manufacturers 99% of the cars on the road, the speedometer varies and some people will be ignorant of this..

They will think 60m/hr is same as 60km/hr shown on their dashboard.

Crazy part is, this won't affect government officials that made this dumb laws.

I pity those who have changed the OEM tyre size of their car.

'I want my car to have a better clearance '

Na now una go know say una tyre don change una speedometer calibration.

Be rest assured you'll constantly get fined.

BTW, speedometer recalibration service will be a great business idea in Lagos now!

Don't be fooled bro,if they really care about lives, those commercial death traps (danfo) without brakelight, overloading of passengers, emitting of all sort of chemicals from exhaust shouldn't be allowed on Lagos roads.
They just want another avenue to make billions from road users.
Don't be surprised when lastma start impounding cars for this nonsense law

I’d advise drivers to get a dashcam that records speed because I don’t trust the officials on the road. They can manipulate the speed meter in a way that even if you’re within the limit, it will still snap you.

You haven't put up any fact to back this ypur claim up. Its just another mere statement to have a go at the government.

Lagos government dont need your money, you just comply with the regulations for you not to kill yourself and othe people and you dont have to pay any fine.

Cameras being deployed for enforcement of vehicle documentation have been working for over 7 years and I know of vehicle owners who have never paid any fine and that is because they are very meticulous with keeping their documents up to date.

If we want sanity on our roads, we all need to applaud this but of course we dont know when to stop bashing the government. Governmentcan never do any right thong in our eyes over here.

It is a pure crash grab, a bad idea and an ill-thought move altogether.

When you have a government that's more focused on making life harder for people instead of solving problems, chaos is the eventual result.

If they enforce this, within the next 3 months, Lagos will be featured on CNN and Aljazeera cos it won't be funny!

I know you don't drive, so please keep quiet, this is not for pedestrians.

When you have a car and you begin driving it, you'll understand better. You think you can maintain a snail speed of 60-70km on 3MB? Someone might just hit you from the back.

Don't worry, you won't understand.

No mind them if someone like them travel out they will abide to the rules but in naija they don't want to hear rules and regulations. Speed Limit in UK high is 70 mph in major high way. Seeing 100 mph there self is too much
