Is NDLEA supposed to be asking for passport in the first place?

Talk about your state, can anyone come to Nigeria because of your state.
Yes, the first attendant saw that he was a US soldier and quietly avoided confrontation while the omonile with terrible haircut felt like looking for an opportunity to beg or extort him. This is Druggie's legacy

All of them lack professionalism, the NDLEA officer will be sacked or demoted if I happen to be his boss, the fact that he is a soldier doesn't mean that you shouldn't do your work, what is expected of you is to respect him as a soldier and that, definitely doesn't include not checking his belongings, same goes to the custom officer, wearing his uniform or not is not your business

NDLeA shouldn’t be checking passport nau especially after immigration had done theor job. I could understand if they were checking luggage. However the guy should have answered the customs “When last were you here”
Re: US Soldier Shares His Encounter With Nigerian Customs & NDLEA At Lagos Airport by NaijaNaWaa:
I didn’t watch the video, but those Customs and NDLEA officers at Lagos airport are devils who are out to provoke, irritate and extort you. No other airport in the world (I have used over 30) conducts endless, from table to table manual search of luggage.

He is absolutely right. Once you pass through immigration, you'll notice various individuals behaving like touts, trying to take advantage of travelers by pretending to represent different agencies. Look at his manner of approach, "oga let me see your passport " as who na? No proper introduction, no uniform. We need to learn some manners in this country.

The comment I've been looking for. Thank you. You're a soldier, so what? I should stop doing my job?

Very unprofessional. As I see it .... fear of a soldier is now in our DNA. At immigration ... his luggag is being checked ... as soon as the visitor declares he's a US military officer ...the search is over and he's allowed to go. The immigration guy is pretty much saying the search would've been avoided if he had worn his uniform. The question.... is he really a US military officer? He should've asked for military ID ..he didn't. This shows that one can bypass immigration by declaring to be a US military and having a uniform in their luggage.
The second guy... I'm surprised the military guy gave him his passport . How can someone in mufti just jump off the bench and demand passport? ...if he needs to check for drugs then he should have an office or desk . The problem with this is nothing is done about it. I'm almost sure that second guy does not work there ...or ....is off duty.

If they didn't know that the guy was a US soldier, they would have attempted to milk him. Bro, forget it; these Nigerian officers are nothing to write home about. They can be very frustrating by being unprofessional and kwarapt.

Its not the passenger's fault. I blame Nigerian immigration and customs officials, who have spoiled the dignity of their uniforms. The passenger who was shouting and trying to make everything look somehow, can he actually do the same thing he did here in Russia? I doubt if he will even think of recording airport officials' activities.

I don't know what is wrong with Nigerians. Any small, thing, they want to show that they are superior to others. What is the big deal about being in US military and holding a US passport? Does that makes someone above the Nigerian law?

That’s why I always fly through Abuja Airport—they treat me like royalty.

I have never felt prouder to be a Nigerian than when I meet the arrival immigration officers at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport. Their professionalism is unmatched.

Whoever is their Oga, increase their salary—these guys deserve it. I’ve been to over 40 international airports, and nowhere else do I feel as genuinely welcome as I do in Abuja.
true talk. when i travel through abuja airport, everything just go so smoothly. though NDLEA begged me money when i dey go and still begged when i came back, i just find them something and keep moving

I do not blame him for recording them - most of those airport officials are always looking to prey on innocent travellers

NDLEA is not supposed to check anyone's passport - they are not immigration
NDLEA has the Fvckin right to check your passport, they can check due to the reasons below

1. Interception of illicit drugs NDLEA may check passports to identify and intercept individuals attempting to smuggle illicit drugs into or out of the country.
2. Travel history and patterns By examining your passport, NDLEA may be able to identify suspicious travel patterns, such as frequent travel to countries known for drug trafficking.
3. Verification of identity: NDLEA may check passports to verify the identity of travelers, ensuring that individuals are who they claim to be.

The dude is just looking for someone to fight with, if I happened to be an officer at the airport I’ll have the idiot detained

I am usually uncomfortable when people in civilian clothing approach and start asking for one’s passport they should all be in uniform.

The US soldier was confrontational.

Glimpsetv:
US Soldier Shares His Encounter with Nigeria Customs and NDLEA Officers at Murtala Muhammed International Airport

A US soldier recently shared a video of his experience with Nigeria Customs and NDLEA officers at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos. The officers were unaware of his military status at first.

The encounter began when a customs officer asked to inspect the soldier’s bags. After a brief exchange, the soldier agreed.

However, upon opening one of the boxes and spotting military items inside, the officer quickly closed it and said, "I didn’t know you were a soldier.

You know, some of your people usually wear their uniforms." The soldier calmly responded, "I don’t usually like to wear my uniform."

The situation took another turn when another staff member at the airport in civilian clothing suddenly stood up as the soldier approached and asked for his passport. Watch the viral video to see what happened next.

all the manual checking of luggage is just for extortion. the bags had been scanned and if drugs are in the bag, the would have been detected and the guy arrested. when your bags are given to you and immigration passes you, you are good to go. all those customs and NDLEA lurking behind are just looking for who to extort.
