IBB's book said differently, IBB said Nwosu suspended the results before the court order.
"after that suspension of the announcements of results, ABN obtained another ‘strange’ court order from Justice Saleh’s court in Abuja, stopping the release of the results of the elections."
The same IBB that wrote in his book that election was cancelled without his knowledge was the same IBB that have granted several interviews in the past 31 years prior to 2025 that he had to cancel the election because of intel at his disposal and because he loves Nigeria and wants to keep the country one.
You've got to be careful believing people who have no one to blame apart from the dead
Nwosu died in 2024, IBB chose to release his book after Nwosu. IBB put it on Abacha who is dead and that Nwosu another dead person suspended results before court order. Very convenient for IBB to easily recall the roles of the dead, nothing to say about the ones that are alive. I know its Nwosu's words against IBBs but hey, how can I believe IBB that his story can change tomorrow.....
- If David Mark dies tomorrow now before IBB, you will hear from IBB another story about the role David Mark played.

The evidence on ground suggest otherwise dear, we were not all born 20years ago. While we all know and heard that IBB was sly and "Maradona", he did not leave any such trace or mark, and his testimony from before and his recent book says he wasn't guilty. Even Nwosu said IBB wasn't guilty. But we all know about the results of the June 12 elections where 3 out of the 4 "South East" states then voted against Abiola and for Tofa (a usual format of the SE against SW candidates).
Arthur Nzeribe from the SE owned the Association for Better Nigeria (ABN) that called for four more years for the IBB administration, got two court orders, one to postpone the Presidential elections, and the second to stop the release of the results of the elections.
It was Nduka Irabor from the South East, that read out the annulment of the June 12 presidential elections.
These things are nothing to me but you don't make these things up consistently, and your gaslighting people consistently makes people like me have to say and restate the facts as a reminder to those who care to know.
ABIOLA narrowly won Anambra because of Anthony Anenih intimate plea, serious pleading with Ezeife to deliver Anambra to SDP. It wasn't easy. Before the election, just like what happened in Tinubu's election. The IBOS rejected ABIOLA before the election. It is not good to open old wounds. He was called various names. The saving grace for ABIOLA was the absence of Social Media.

That was why ABIOLA was very sad after election that he lost in Rivers State. ABIOLA lost RIVERS STATE because of the blackmailing of the IBOS. ABIOLA won in AkwaIbom and Cross River State. ABIOLA won EDO and Delta. It is not good to open old wounds. ABIOLA won KANO but lost RIVERS, Abia, Imo and Enugu. WIKE is a man of courage. The IKWERRE identity struggling is an historical and Political struggling. People can call ASARI DOKUBO names because of Tinubu but there are reasons he cannot betray him. I will stop here.

For posterity.

It is important to note that all the parties affected in this landmark legal procedure including MKO Abiola knew the position of NEC. It had completed a compilation of the results of June 12, 1993 Presidential Election. It had also verified the same and determined that MKO Abiola was the winner. NEC was walking through a tight rope to remove the obstacles placed on its path in order to declare MKO Abiola, the winner when suddenly those who opposed the conduct of the election caused the annulment of the election on June 23, 1993

What is surprising is that you left out the part where the Court motion was filed by Abimbola Davies of the ABN who charged that the elections were plagued by corruption. It was davis that filled the suit that resulted in orders by the court to halt the announcement of the results. but as usual cowards like you try to rewrite history to make the SE the scape goat for Nigerians problems. Also abiola won in 3 of the seven states in the SE so your claim that the entire SE was against him is false.

Read me again, and carefully this time, except you are knowingly trying to distort what is said and true. i said, "3 out of the 4 "South East" states then voted against Abiola" I did not leave out the court order, check the post just before the post that you quoted. i showed and I will show you again, that Nwosu suspended the elections BEFORE the court order. You may confirm from IBB's book on page 274. I have re-attached it. Nwosu did not obey the court order not to conduct election, so why do you believe that a court order stopped him from concluding and declaring what he claimed that everyone knew?

Election was annuled on June 23 like you said. The issue is why did Nwosu suspend the results on June 16 before any court order?

That was what happened. Since morning I have been saying I want SOWORE to speak if Nwosu deserves any honour. He was the SUG President. He was with us at the beginning of the struggle. OVIE KOKORI is the person I know that deserves honour. The announcement have been suspended before Arthur Nzeribe obtained the court order suspending the release of the results.

If TOFA had won the election results would have been released.
Thanks very much, IBB said the same thing in his book. These guys try to twist and confuse history for everybody. The elections were annuled on June 23 but Nwosu already suspended election results since June 16, a week before. Everyone knew the results but were waiting for him like a referee that ends the match. He refused to end the match and say who won, claiming that everybody knows and it is public document. SMH

It's like I am missing something in this June 12 issue.

There is no longer a question of whether Abiola won the elections or not. It's been established that he won, from results made available, and he has subsequently been honoured.

Who collated the results that established Abiola as the winner of the elections?

Who was announcing the results before being interrupted by the Commander-in-Chief of the country?

Despite going against the wishes of the military Head of State to conduct the freest and fairest elections, Nwosu isn't appreciated.

Except there is something else I am oblivious about, I smell a tribal connotation in this. This is all because Prof. Nwosu is an Igbo man and nothing more!
No tribal connotation anywhere, what exactly did he do to deserve the honor of being immortalised?

You lie when he said he held elections against the military’s wish, did he use his personal funds?

If he had announced the result against the wish of the military hierarchy, perhaps he’d have been worthy of immortalisation.

But he was cowardly and didn’t complete his duty by announcing the results.

Immortalisation isn’t for everyone. Talk less of those without extraordinary courage.

It confirms what happened. That the June 12 election was annulled on June 23rd, that Nwosu suspended the announcement of the election results on June 16th, and that Arthur Nzeribe's ABN brought up a court order after Nwosu's suspension. Watch Nwosu's video interview also 15yrs later that confirm these dates. If you have contrary fact to these, kindly share instead of throwing insults and unfounded rants.

Just what I was saying yesterday.
At least, there were still people who had to run for their lives and kept fighting the dictators from exile. Let’s stop sugarcoating what is not, Nwosu was a coward. It’s funny that the word “coward” is one of the most common terms his kinsmen love calling others😂

He would not have done that under the despot called Babangida. That man and his group were intoxicated by power and very wicked in their days.

Even this Oshiomole was said to have criticized Obasanjo in the morning during his time as NLC leader on a particular day, in the evening of same day Murray Ben Bruce visited Obasanjo and met the two of the drinking and laughing together.
He is now a saint.

Read his submission once again for better understanding. “Well, there were Nigerians who protested under the gun without minding the consequences’”

It's easy to ask why a civilian like Nwosu did not publicly announce June 12th results against the wishes of Generals with guns
That’s why we call him a coward. This ugly culture of telling lies to make dead ideeots and cowards look good needs to stop. Osho clearly stated that at least there were other people who still spoke against those so called Generals with guns despite knowing the consequences (some of them ran away to fight from exile e.g Tinubu)
The funny irony here is that it’s you obi’s rodents that are fond of calling others cowards even when historical facts and events say otherwise.

Nwosu was still “shitting” his pants and tormented by the ghost of Abacha that he couldn’t make the pronouncement till he died but in all these, the Yorubas and Hausas are the cowards and Fulanis’ slaves according to Chinedus from the dense forests of Onitsha😂

Did you also forget that Hunphrey Nwosu was served a notice from the courts via the CP that the announcement of the results should stop. You know this, but you deliberately avoided talking about that. Even Humphrey Nwosu said it that there was a court notice to stop the announcement of the results. He was summoned to Aso Rock, even at the risk of his life he instructed NEC counsel to send a counter petition. Even before the Judge was to rule on the matter IBB dissolved NEC. You just decided to hide that fact and deceive people here on Nairaland that is why I said God will punish you for wilfully lying. You are tribal bigot stop pretending I cannot see why you will deliberately hide the true role HN played in making June 12 the best election ever and at the risk of his life started announcing the results of the election.

ABN is owned by ARTHUR NZERIBE. Who filed the motion at the Court is immaterial. Any infamous opportunity seeking individual can work with an infamous organization. ABN obtained Court injunction to stop the election from taking place but Nwosu went ahead to conduct the election thinking TOFA would win. When the results were already known by NRC, SDP, ABN that ABIOLA won, NZERIBE held emergency meeting with Judge . The judgement was delivered to stop the announcement of the election. Davies narrated these things at Ibadan at Golf Club almost two decades ago.

[/color]come see wetin IBB, talk about your hero, sorry villain. At least we're hearing from the horse's mouth now. At that moment, I remember looking across the room and saying to Professor Nwosu: 'Go ahead with the elections. Go to your offce, hold a world press conference and tell everyone the elections will be held tomorrow as planned? I also recall turning to the Director of the Centre for Democratic Studies, Professor Omo Omoruyi, and telling him to inform his election monitors, foreign and local, that the elections were on. When I later received a call from the American Ambassador, Mr William Lacy Swing, we were both optimistic that the elections would go as planned, and that was what happened.

On Saturday, June 12, 1993, the Presidential elections took place as planned. To my surprise, the polls were not just peaceful but very peaceful indeed! Voting took place in all the 110,000 polling stations in the country, and in keeping with the Modified Open Ballot System (MOBS) as stipulated in Decree 13, counting took place flawlessly in the open, followed almost simultaneously with an open collation that allowed for final results to be attained quickly.

Using a giant board in front of its Abuja offices, NEC started, as early as June 13, as stipulated by the Electoral law, to display already-released results from all 30 State Headquarters of NEC before the Resident Electoral Commissioners brought them to Abuja for final ratification. That process of public display of results, which had now covered 14 states, continued until June 14. And then, on June 16, without my knowledge or prior approval, NEC Chairman, Professor Nwosu, announced the suspension of the June 12 election results until further notice.

I knew instantly that certain fifth columnists were at work and that there was a need for extra care! And even after that suspension of the announcements of results, ABN obtained another 'strange court order from Justice Saleh's court in Abuja, stopping the release of the results of the elections.
